UGC Catalog is one of the best features of Roblox to come and I am totally impressed with that. But I have a few questions about this feature:
Does QA actually test accessories in-game to see how they look like?
How would a UGC creator be determined to prevent the situations with poorly made (or with mistakes) accessories?
Is QA good with advertising in the descriptions of some of those accessories? (e.g. “Subscribe to…”)
Roblox didn’t have any sales recently (Memorial day sale), except we had UGC sale made by the UGC creators, does that mean that Roblox focuses more on UGC accessories more than original accessories (made by ROBLOX)?
(( Not a question )) I don’t see the point in adding comments sections under the description of UGC accessories, because the majority of them represent off-topic messages. My suggestion is to add a special feature under the description of UGC accessories, the ability to create a review section (rating and review), also add so people will have an ability to vote if that review was helpful or not. (Maybe, also add the filter of positive and negative reviews)
In general, I really like the new UGC catalog, I wish and hope it will be developing in the future, so UGC creators and Roblox users will have the best experience in buying good-looking items.
This is false. Roblox didn’t nor needed to make an agreement. By “Reselling” Unity means that you can’t directly sell the asset to the user for commercial use, not use it as a item.
There is a difference between the two. If I buy Magma Fiend from Roblox, I don’t have the ability to legally use it in a Unity Project, or any other game engine. If I buy the asset from Unity on the marketplace however, I do get the ability to use it commercially.
I’m a bit confused as to why this years “memorial day sale” was entirely forced upon the ugc creators. I didn’t see that many memorial day specific hats come out yesterday so I’m assuming that they weren’t really expecting to have to do the memorial day sale by themselves.
On top of that, bighead, workclock, biggerhead etc were not released for some reason. I know that my friend stayed up the entire night waiting for workclock to be put on sale.
I don’t think this was the one of the better changes that you guys have made recently. It would also be way more helpful if we got an official announcement on it seeing as this is certainly not a sensitive subject that you are not allowed to speak about. Next year it would be helpful if you just made an announcement that there will not be a sale so that people know not to stay up until 3am hoping to get workclock.
Tl;Dr
Why was this all forced onto ugc creators so randomly? Why were the normal items that everyone gets their hopes up for not put on sale? It would help to be more transparent on random changes like this.
A couple of my other devs and I where just talking about ever since the UGC was released roblox has put very little items on sale most of what they make now are for the toys and roblox gift card thing’s. They didn’t even have there Christmas sales. I also, want to point out the spam on the catalog just for different color items. Example:
This is one of the biggest thing’s I have noticed that could easily be organized. For example do what amazon does if they offer more then 1 color under the same tab you pick your color.
It kinda sucks then how the creator of Magma Fiend was only paid like $20 for his creation if that’s the case.
I was originally trying to discourage the use of marketplace assets but now with this cleared up I think many people will begin outsourcing their work once UGC opens up. It’s generally a race to be the first one I guess.
There has been lots of controversy about limited items dropping in value. I am prepared to be proven wrong, but I do not believe they will. I doubt there is a genuine demand for the dominus hat etc. in the normal sense that warrants the price level it has got. Instead, I believe the Veblen effect has taken effect and the demand is only there because it is so expensive.
Anyway, whether I’m right or wrong, I guess I’m now officially a Robloxian economist!
edit: We could also look at the idea that the perceived time somebody worked on something gives it value (funnily enough, something both Marx and Smith agreed on). I guess if we took that approach, the perceived time would be lower (I think? I might be wrong), so it would drop in value! Perhaps then, this would be a good way of knowing which theory is right from what happens to the price of hats on Roblox! (I’m not being serious)
but then I guess one could argue that having a high price gives the impression that it has had a lot of time worked on it. So, I’m back to my original conclusion, I don’t think the price of limited hats will move.
Strongly agree with this, if roblox is going to stop doing the normal sales that everyone wants and substitute them for ugc sales then they should at least tell us.
I feel like this kinda messed up Roblox, because Roblox have now stopped doing sales. It’s a bit sad to see their sales go, just because UGC is taking over.
I’d hope it get changed in the future.
UGC is changing Roblox’s way of doing things, making their site even more community based. Now items like the big head are being reuploaded in other colors such as blue because Roblox has not done a sale in months, and it seems likely to stay like this.
All we can do is hope Roblox begins to go back to normal with their sales.
the idea of uploading stuff like this or the customs from blender like that mutant i showed in an earlier post ;w; several people said they’d especially want this mutant as an rthro >w<
I think moderation needs more training, two UGC creators dont deserve to be in, one copied and stole art from platforms and another botted his UGC item. If this is to really be open to public moderation team needs to get on top of things like this considering roblox has 1billion users.
