Thank you so much to all of you who submitted to write an article for the Roblox Developer Medium this quarter! We had many great submissions, and though we could not feature everyone, we are excited to open another opportunity for User Generated Content for the coming months!
Without further ado, we’d like to present the next topic for Roblox Developer Medium: Why Roblox?
From January to March, we will be featuring stories from developers about why they chose Roblox as their preferred game development platform! Here are a few questions to consider when submitting your article ideas:
How did you find Roblox? What first drew you in about Roblox?
What features on the Roblox platform have stood out to you?
What made you want to be a game developer?
What fellow developers did you look up to when you first started at Roblox? How has the community helped you grow as a developer?
Tell us about your first Roblox success story
Tell us some of your favorite early Roblox memories
We’re excited to read your stories! If you’re selected, a member of the Developer Relations team will reach out and work with you to establish a timeline and polish your article.
I want to write about my experience on Roblox since 2007, Roblox has been part of my life since I was 7, it has changed my life in a way I would of never thought it could!
While I haven’t accomplished as much as some others do here, I did fill in the survey because I’d be more than happy to share my story on Roblox
Edit: I hope the questions below are just examples?
I thought of my own way to describe why I picked Roblox which involves personal topics. Is that alright? Or must it be from a neutral standpoint? (Aka. “Why Roblox?” But without giving opinions)
Honestly just write what you wanna write. The purpose of these stories are to be something for other users to aspire to. Something to inspire. Something neat and entertaining to read. The more personal the story is and less generic many of the details are, the better.
Fingers crossed I can share my story with everyone. Honestly the 10 sentences in the survey aren’t enough to explain everything, but I do personally believe my story might be inspiring to many.
I first found the platform through a friend and have been using it for years. Just when I thought I was done with it, I peeked into the development side of things and got hooked again.
The folks at ROBLOX have not only done a great job at making a social gaming platform such as this possible, but they have managed to pull off a relatively sensible development side of things. Along with the mountains of easy to understand documentation (which sometimes I don’t find on other platforms) it makes it really easy to get started, even if you’re not great at it at first.
I didn’t start developing on ROBLOX with a desire to make games, but to practice coding principles and combine it with something I enjoy.
I honestly feel I’ve met those goals and then some, and I can’t thank The ROBLOX team and community for forming the experiences I’ve had and for continuing to create new ones going forward. Thank you all.
It’s a little hard trying to find a way to practice c++ in a similar way, but for general principles Lua has done more than initially intended.
