Reproduction Steps
Many users who play my game have reported getting Error Code: 524 when trying to join my experience via the play button. The error is “You do not have permission to join this experience.” I have confirmed that when this occurs for a user, it occurs at most experiences regardless of if they have any active private servers or not. They are able to join fine via selecting a server from the server list, but the play button will not let them join the experience.
This is terrible for players, developers, and Roblox alike as it is likely preventing many players from accessing the experiences they wish to play. It should be fixed ASAP to prevent potential loss of players and revenue.
Expected Behavior
All users can join the experience via the play button without issue.
Actual Behavior
Some users are unable to join the experience via the play button and must join from the servers list.
Workaround
The user can join the experience via the server list, however this is a poor work around if you have a game hub or your game has no active players.

Dude thankyou!! finally someone has brought this issue to light on here as I cant even post in this forum!! its been like this for a whole week for me and a dozen more on youtube if you type “roblox error 524” and go to recent. Then even on twitter too but its not alot. I swear its like roblox has been blind to this issue because so many people have experienced it and made videos or some sort to get the message out there but nobody is listening!! Some people have even been experiencing this since february 2021.
Thank you for making this post! This has been happening none stop. I’ve noticed a decrease in player count on my games. Most users keep telling me they keep encountering this too, as do I.
I’ve been told a temporary workaround may be to connect to a VPN service and join a game. After leaving, you can turn your VPN off and the play button should work as expected again. I can’t test this myself but someone who had the issue had it fixed by doing that.
I’ve been having this issue, I’m unable to even test my own games. It’s insane. Since the update, the problem has happened and it’s consistent 100% of the time I try and join any game. Although, I can join through the server list that’s not convenient if a server has 0 players.
Ok how long are we supposed to wait? None of the suggested temporary fixes are working for me. And I would consider this rather important since people can’t test nor play their own games or any other game that does not have a server open. And if your friend is not available at the moment, oh well, you’re just gonna have to wait until some of your friends is free and can join the game for you.
Here are the things I tried:
VPN - Nope
Non-chrome based browser - Nope
Roblox app from Microsoft Store - Nope
The only time it worked was around 1:00 AM my time (CEST) and it only worked once…
frrr bro its been a whole week!! Tried everything! you think this be top priority cuz i bet if they whole website was down they fix it fast af! or over half they players were gone. But i heard someone on youtube say they email roblox support and they got back to them saying “we are aware of this issue and our team is doing our best to resolve it please be patient” and that was few days ago
Yes, it is still occuring for me and my brother. The only way I get around this is by joining via the server list or when I join a friend on the homepage.
Hate to bump this again, but this issue has not been resolved yet. It’s been almost two weeks, you’d think Roblox would want to fix a game-breaking bug that severely limits the amount of players online
