Unusually high consistent ping in my game

My game, “Shogun’s Realm,” is facing an unusually high amount of ping. I’ve attempted various solutions to address this issue, but none of them have worked. The map is quite extensive, and I suspected that it might be overloading the server due to the number of buildings, resulting in consistently high ping, often exceeding 120. However, my efforts to mitigate this were unsuccessful. I also tried removing every single script in the game, including the admin system, with no improvement.

I wonder if there might be a game setting that is interfering with the server. I even attempted to transfer the game to an entirely separate place, but the same issue persists. I’ve exhausted my ideas, and the situation remains baffling. This issue has persisted for an extended period, affecting users from all regions, including Europe and North America.

If anyone has suggestions for things I should try, please share them, and I’ll test them out. I’ll make sure to provide a reply to let you know if any of these suggestions have had any effect.

compared to other / most games, it is. and it makes a noticeable difference especially when it comes to pvp and or gameplay in general - everything is delayed.

for sure, but compared to roblox games? I feel like all roblox games have around 100 minimum idk

perhaps, i’d say on average they have around 80 - but considering i removed all buildings and scripts and the ping was still substantially high; its an issue i’d like to have addressed

Since you say the ping is less in Studio, there’s a chance Roblox is connecting you to the wrong regions. You could utilize a tool like Bloxstrap to see which server you connect to.

Edit: I should be connected to NA-EAST servers, but a lot of the time i’m put into NA-WEST servers when joining games, which leads to high ping for me.

That’s to be expected, generally studio has lower ping than actual servers because (from my understanding atleast) the session is hosted locally. It’s not unusual behavior, and 80-100 ms ping is unfortunately rather typical for the platform.

I don’t know much about things like this, but maybe try using Network Ownership API to have the client manage things. Also consider using lower-poly meshes for anything really far from the player.

Also try looking at Stats to potentially get some data on what’s using the most memory.\

Again, I don’t know much about ping issues like this, but these are just a few ideas!

What is your network recv? Maybe you have an unoptimized script.

100ms ping isn’t that much. It could also just be your internet connection.

After some more research based of the replies I’ve gotten - the ping would appear to be normal for the average Roblox game but that doesn’t explain why the ‘latency’ is so high. It takes substantially long for the server to respond to the client and it seems like the ping is higher than it actually is.

Make sure nothing is unanchored.

It might be an issue on your end. You could consider having a few people test your game to see if it’s a concern for everyone.
