Upcoming Ads Roadmap and Changes

I don’t particularly like the idea of forcing Ad Credits upon us, especially when we’re imposed to a 10 credit limit per conversion AND the credits themselves cost 285 robux. I can’t really afford to spend 2850 robux on gaining just enough ad credits so I can make an Ad so I can preview the immersive ads system. A minimum purchase of 2850 robux for 10 ad credits is insane compared to User Ads, where even if you were a small developer relying on a tiny robux income you could at least buy an ad and hope somebody would join your game. At the very least, don’t force us to buy 10 ad credits before we can even fully preview the ad system. I feel like this move towards Immersive Ads, especially with the full removal of User Ads makes Roblox a game where Adults make games for Kids, not Kids make games for Kids.

I am disappointed by the upcoming User Ads removal, and I am extremely devastated that they are literally pausing our ability to promote groups. I don’t understand what was wrong with that feature as it was very effective. Like they said, we’ll be forced to either “stay tuned” or find off-platform alternatives.

This update is awful, having to give my private information for a roblox ad is insane, please revert this decision immediately

Can’t wait for hackers to steal some big developer’s account because he gave his information in the ad account. Yeah, 100% a great idea Roblox.

While this is a strange removal it is understandable on why roblox doesn’t want to have 4 different advertisement methods

On terms of giving roblox your private information, anyone who uses devex already basically gave roblox all of it so it doesn’t make a difference

I don’t mind the feature, but it does seem to be functionally broken.
No matter what I do, I cannot get impressions from players in niche regions.

I’m literally offering 71.25 Robux per click, and it wont even give me impressions! It wouldn’t even be possible really to make a profit off that amount.

But when I do all regions and all ages, I get it so cheap that it’s actually even lower than the baseline of 14 and only costs me 11.4 Robux per click.

I’m trying to spend my money! It just doesn’t do anything! Regardless of the region or demographic niche I pick is there really someone out there permanently outbidding me, despite the fact I am paying 70R$ for a measly visit? Whereas in the oldest version of the prior system I’d put in 500R$ and get 1 million impressions. I also don’t get key metrics, or simple visualizations of when these clicks and impressions are occurring (which you know, should be important, since in a bid system most my clicks will come from large surges) which makes gaining feedback harder. I can’t even edit my desired max bid when the ad runs, or just have a single ad which cycles between max bids at certain hours, it’s a revamp which provides very little control. It seems as if this whole feature was pushed and migrated too early in development.

Yea, it seems like roblox is taking one step forward, two steps backwards and falling down the stairs.

What sort of update is this. This by far is one of the worst updates I have seen in a while. There is absolutely no good for developers here. This is all just stuff that benefits the roblox corporation. Listen to your devs and realize that this is a bad move. Nobody asked for this or wants this besides you. It never shocks me to learn about the next roblox update that will slowly kill the platform.

This is gonna make it extremely difficult for small games to pick up traction now.

You don’t have to give any personal info? It’s now for 13+ users as outlined in the announcement.

User ads have been a staple of ROBLOX for, forever. The advertising system has been absolutely dogwater for the last couple of years, which has been a combination of ROBLOX changing the way user ads work, and the extreme growth of megacorp-like entities taking over the site, that dump absurd amounts of R$ and USD into the advertising system.

If user ads are indeed going away, please make sponsored ads better

So you solve ads disrupting user experience by putting ads in-game that will make it more disruptive

I didn’t read everything roblox posted because I was in a hurry. I only read a couple replies and those replies that I’ve read said you had to give out your information, thanks for specifying it though.

Fun fact: ROBLOX had in-experience ads before, albeit just for mobile devices.

Basically, developers were able to make it where in-experience ads would pop up for mobile users at any point, and you would earn like 1 robux per every ad shown. ROBLOX official’s guidelines were that only one ad could be shown at a time to a user, and ads had to be shown at convenient times, like intermission(s) between rounds.

This was back somewhere between 2013-2016, right when ROBLOX became mobile compatible.

You can imagine this system devolved into developers spamming mobile players with tons of ads at random points, much like how games made by studios like Voodoo operate.

IIRC, they reduced the robux incentive significantly for these ads to a point that it was barely worth it, before removing them completely a number of years ago.

I’m sure ROBLOX is trying to be very careful about releasing “immersive ads” to not recreate a situation like this again, but this update is just going to result in ROBLOX games looking like the sides of highways (or what @sam_youwell would call “burgerpunk”) and less like games.

Why can’t we change the timezone after creating an account?

Do not remove user advertisments, there will be a empty void, this feature is amazing and helped me make a lot of Robux. I do not understand, why remove it? It is funny, that you Roblox staff guys speak of this:

We’ve seen over the years that user ads have become incredibly creative but sometimes disruptive to the user experience

Better solution would be, to change the rules, to fit your “vision” that we still hear of, this “vision” is cleary idea of few HR people on the Roblox ladder and maybe even investors, START asking players what do they think of the changes, before putting them live and as a sure, already decided thing, that would be way better idea.

Yes, because having portals and billboards shoving games in your face while you’re PLAYING A GAME is less intrusive than game recommendations showing up on the side of the screen when you’re searching for something to play. Roblox has to think their ideas through instead of setting it in stone the second they come up with it.

Worst update for game devs ever, I used to be able to spend 10k ROBUX for 1.6M impressions and now 10k gets me to 64k impressions.
Bring back the old system to support smaller developers!!!

i know im late but seriously lol you want sponsoring and advertising to be seamless for everyone to participate in LOL you just made it harder

you made it harder and more of a pain for everyone to advertise and sponsor their games just leave this stuff alone these updates suck and this is why everyone complains that every roblox update is one step forward and three steps back

Why not just integrate user ads with the ad manager? This would be more promising considering all the traffic user ads currently carry being merged with sponsors will likely kill rates and make it impossible for startup games with low capitol to gain any ground in Roblox’s economy. At the end of the day it’s probably gonna take a .08 bid on the ad manager for sponsors to get anywhere which would mean you would get 12,000 plays per thousand dollars. It would be a good idea to give users who sponsor heavily on a weekly basis a harder algorithm push.
