Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

I see that many people are trying to find alternative ways to prevent botting and not destroy smaller groups and I think I might of thought of a few that could work.

  • Option 1 is that you make it so you have to have dev forum member or above to upload clothing. There is a lot of time to the perms in the first place. Overall it could help as not that many people use the forum despite it being quite useful. The only problem is that you need to be 13+ to use it so kids couldn’t make clothing anymore.

  • Option 2 is you make it a thing where you have to apply for it like ugc. It would be a slow and manual process so it probably wouldn’t work too well.

  • Option 3 is you only allow people who are the owner or have perms to make clothing on the group to see the template. This is based off of @Paxerian original idea. Like he says “I’m aware this won’t solve every problem, especially with already stolen assets” but it could help.

Just some random thoughts I had and saw that could be better.

Why was this closed?

Still not in support of this now that it’s rolled out to everyone, I’d prefer Premium to upload.

Yeah I guess, It’s a kind of a bad update, but people MIGHT just MIGHT earn more robux off selling them for free, WHICH makes another way for free robux but you gotta give so kinda gambling

Great update!! I am very excited!

It’s out, pretty nice mistake you did right there.

It is also keeping some of us designers group stores from updating. Terrible update and they can’t even fix the issue they made.

Personally, I did not like this update. Everyone says it’s better because premium is no longer needed, but if you couldn’t afford that, how will you afford the robux fee? I believe it should have been premium users upload free, and other users have the fee. I understand this was a step trying to discourage bots, but at this point, they make enough robux to the point the fee doesn’t even affect them. Right idea, wrong execution.

Hey, @givenothingback . I would like to ask a question. If for example, I upload a clothing asset (I pay 10 robux). Does it cost anything to put it on sale, do you have a monthly payement or you don’t pay anything else than 10 robux?

It’s literally just a fee for uploading, nothing else

hold up, where can you find the video/list of instructions? I’ve been struggling with this problem ever since the update has been rolled out. D:
I’ve tried testing my templates via models in Studio but got moderated for doing so…idk why either…I did that to ensure all my templates are complete and I could upload them after without any problem. (That happened before the update was rolled out, idk what about now)

I completely forgot you could test by Studio, how do you actually test templates?

This is possibly one of the most upsetting updates I have ever witnessed. As a small clothing designer, most of us only get 1-2 sales per piece of clothing uploaded. We will profit almost no Robux at all. Lets not forget the amount of copied clothing in the catalog. This update does not help that issue. I have noticed Roblox not treating our beloved designers very well. This update does not help.

Roblox is slowly removing Premium benefits, making users with premium not have as many benefits as we used to. This is outrageous. I am speaking for myself and the other unnoticed clothing designers with premium, that this update is very disappointing.

Due to this update I am planning to cancel my premium subscription. I bought premium in the first place to have the ability to upload clothes, now I no longer need it. I am very disappointed as I expected more benefits for us premium members and possibly Roblox supporting clothing designers this year, but I guess not. (I am not trying to be rude, but I am just stating my thoughts.) Thank you for reading this, as I have put a lot of feelings into these couple paragraphs.

It’s a bad update for newly clothing Makers/Designers.

Because 10 Robux a way expensive for Average Roblox Players but cheaper for Bot Groups/Designers.

Like theres too many botted & stolen clothes on front page and that clothes made by rich groups.

But original and average clothing makers still can’t upload because of the fee and this update messing with peoples imagination.

If this update was for only deal with bots it should be ‘‘1’’ Robux to upload a clothing, not ‘‘10’’ Robux.

Idk, seems like an over-reaction for 10 robux per upload, 88 robux is literally $1 USD == at least 8 uploads and with some traction the sales could easily make up for the 10 robuix granted you just sell 4 shirts for 5 robux each, only 2 if you sell for 10. Saves me money with having to buy premium due to being able to self sustain, mildly annoying when you accidentally mess up a template and waste 10 though.
