Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

This will help with botting but can you please lower the fee price for shirts and pants it could be 5 robux and for t-shirts it could be 2 robux. An expensive fee like this would kill off much of the catalog since most users wont be able to pay the fee its like creating a group cause a group is 100 robux but doing that every time you upload a clothing asset.

No worries at all! Ty for your understanding :white_heart:

I honestly think that to much has been blocked behind premium and it is still worth buying it.

This is honestly devastating to small designers. We’re now out of the business. We can’t afford the 100 fee, many of us would be lucky to make that from 5 or 6 outfits. The rich are gonna get richer and that’s it, it doesn’t help the rest of us from bots. New designers won’t get into the market cause they don’t have starting funds. Roblox has now officially set the date of execution for the design community and who’d have thought it would be so soon?

Quite the double-edged sword here. On one hand, the fact that, after 12 years, uploading shirts and pants is no longer restricted to BC/Premium is pretty neat. On the other, paying a fee for each individual shirt and pants you upload seems a bit steep if you’re either a small designer, lack the funds, or your clothing isn’t getting much traction.

While this may slow down the clothing theft, it won’t stop it. There are a multitude of groups dedicated to stealing and re-uploading clothing, with or without Premium, and I don’t think the fee is going to deter them. This is possibly a step in the right direction, but the core problem is twofold;

    1. How easy it is to steal clothing.
    1. The groups that exist that give thieves a platform.

Those two issues sorely need to be addressed in order to stem the tide of stolen clothing.

That’s a nice change but personally I would like to be able to change how the shirt looks so I don’t have to pay a double fee if I want to update the looks of that shirt.

If we can afford it. Which, I’d say a good 80% of us can’t. The bots that can still afford it will be much bigger than us no matter what fee is put in the way!

It would be nice if all of the excess & stolen assets were somehow hidden or removed.

At least make the fee lower when you have premium because i don’t want to have use 40 robux just for a shirt. So just make the fee lower if you have premium.

you see, the problem with this is that all of the botted clothing being uploaded rn, are uploaded by premium accounts, thus, this wouldn’t solve anything, I think instead the fee would have to be lowered instead

Pretty sure the fee is 100 robux, and yes I agree that premium players should either have it lowered or free.

I support this change 100%. I appreciate your efforts in trying to prevent upload abuse which has been a reoccurring thing for the past years.

Some will despise this change, but I approve!

Edit: after doing further reading and gaining the perspective of other clothing designers in this thread, I can see why some are upset with this change.

I think many are just upset with the fact that they have a financial limitation on making clothing on Roblox now, which again is understandable. Buying 400R costs $4.99 USD (unless you live in another country). Getting premium is the same price except you have more freedom in doing stuff.

As somebody mentioned, this change is a bit of a double-edged sword, which I agree with. I personally think it’s a good concept – just wish they lowered the price or provided more leeway, like make it so premium members are still able to upload free.

I seriously hope this update doesn’t come. The best solution is to charge 100 Robux for non-premium users. With this update, many small designers including me will have to stop creating clothes. May I add, an average shirt usually gets around 5 sales. A lot of designers will stop since they can’t afford the fee and they’re not profiting.

I feel that if you are a successful clothing group with quality assets that you would definitely earn back your ROBUX spent. The fee will lower the amount of clothes on the catalog making it easier to get found possibly

Interesting, this will force Roblox clothing developers to up their prices for their clothing from the accustomed 5 Robux value that’s not realistic at all.

Ok… For upload Shirt you don’t need the premium, but you have to pay Robux? And some many people have said this: This is not helping new developer and that will not stop a guy who want to steal a cloth… So I don’t think this is a good update. We need to find a real system to stop people spamming asset in the Avatar Shop like the actual UGC system.

I maybe have one idea: When you upload something, Roblox checks if that clothing already exists, and if it does, you can‘t upload and you have to contact Roblox moderation team (wich I hope that will improve some day). And I know that you want to say:

„But Eternal, what if a bot already uploaded my clothing? What do I do then?“

Then, you can talk with the moderation team (again, you will need to hope), remove the botted item, get the robux that the bot made with your cloths and you can upload your right cloth. And the best thing is that bots can‘t really write messages like humans, so they can‘t contact the support team. Now, you will have to hope that the moderation team actually are humans that wants to help you and not just bots, but I hope that someone can understand what I mean!

I personally don’t like this update. First, what will premium users benefit from this update? Will they be able to upload for free? I hope so.

Second, why make us pay 100 robux? In my opinion it seems too much, because we’re paying 100 robux per clothing uploaded, and we have a low chance of it being successful.

Third, make it to where premium users can benefit from this update. Let premium users upload for free.

Most players bought premium to be able to upload clothing. I feel we’re getting ripped off if we won’t benefit from this update.

I understand clothing bots are an issue, but I don’t think this will stop them. For example, someone who makes an original clothing piece and uploads an unwatermarked template to Discord (for example), then someone can easily steal it without the original creator knowing, and upload it to Roblox, if they have 100 robux.

Please Roblox, give premium users a benefit. Let us upload for free, or make a clothing designer program. Make it to where we have to show we’re trusted, like how we have to show we’re trusted here on the DevForum.

If not, please rethink this. You guys risk losing tons of players because of premium becoming useless (besides a certain amount if robux per month). Many people bought premium to be able to start their clothing designing career.

Good to see that you care about the clothing catalog :grinning:, I do have some suggestion to make it better:

  • Players with premium don’t have to pay for uploading one (or less Robux)
  • Limiting the number of clothing uploads per user weekly just like UGC (I believe that UGC has a limit…)
