This is literally ridiculous. A lot of people first start making ROBUX off of selling (original) clothing but this update means you’d need to seek ROBUX elsewhere beforehand. Besides, people bot clothing for a profit, not for the hell of it - they’d already have enough money to continue botting clothes. On paper, this seems like a good idea, but in practice, it’s a bad idea: really, only small clothing designers would be affected by this. Massive clothes bots that earn hundreds per day would not be affected.
Atleast make the Profit Fee 30% for everyone instead of 70% for non premium and 30% for premium if you’re gonna charge for uploads…
Or remove the profit fee!
I don’t think this would be a good idea for new users. You’re probably making it worse for any non-premium users who have no R$ to upload shirts, pants. This change was not asked or needed as every DevForum members were complaining about it. I would agree with some of the replies that talking about removing the fee. Don’t reply to me because I ain’t going to understand your reply as I have a bad English understanding.
It has nothing to do with Roblox being unable to moderate content properly. A lot of games and development studios outside of Roblox experience similar issues when it comes to assets that have to be served to the client. This doesn’t make it okay, but is still something to consider.
Look at exploiting for example — there’s always going to be a gap between exploits and patches because eventually someone will find a way to bypass it. I definitely think Roblox is taking a major step in the right direction overall by implementing all these changes. This will definitely lead to more competition within the clothing industry overall and help produce higher quality clothing.
I contacted support in the past about getting stolen clothing removed, along with links to the originals that I made (complete with my watermark in the back of them) and I just get a “clothing copying isn’t against the rules”
After (angrily) double checking the rules, it turns out they’re right. There’s literally nothing in the rules against copying clothing. Stealing games and game assets? Yes. Clothing? No.
Are you sure you didn’t misinterpret what Roblox gave you as a response? With my past experience with stolen clothing the closest response I got was something along the lines of Roblox moderators not having the proper tools to do anything about it. This doesn’t mean that it’s not against the rules though.
quick question, what if my outfit gets deleted for false moderation? will I get a refund? If not, roblox moderators can use that to their advantage and delete outfits, just for us to re upload them. and what about fixing tiny details? as a designer, I’ve had to reupload outfits multiple times after noticing small details that looked off on the avatar. this is completely unneeded. you really should rethink this.
No, seriously, I encourage everyone reading this to look at the rules/ToS of Roblox.
reading this just made me explode. no wonder Roblox doesn’t care. when it comes to clothing, what makes this platform come to life, instead of wearing the same free clothes, they just don’t care. but when it comes to UGC, their source of money, they suddenly care. at this point there is no reason for designers to exist, I mean, it’s obvious Roblox doesn’t care.
Roblox is pretty clear about intellectual property on the platform in general.
You’re literally wearing a shirt by @YcbBrac , that’s not a Roblox designed outfit. If this is what you want, wear the Roblox clothes yourself, don’t buy from designers. However, it’s quite disappointing that someone else who does graphic design is supporting this decision, as designing is just as much graphic design as what you do. Don’t be a hypocrite.
Here is (most) of the paper trail I have from my multiple tickets in hopes of getting stolen clothing removed. Spoilered because…well…lots of images.
My name and support names cropped out for privacy. Warning: Very long
Originally I had sent out the first email (deleted bc I was dumb) just reporting other rule violation, and was told to file a DMCA report, which I gladly did.
After reporting through the contact form, to the DMCA section (and pointing out how I had reported it before and was told to retry filing a ticket under there) I was told to…report under the DMCA section again? Clearly they either didn’t care to read the details of my ticket, or I got handed to a buggy bot.
Third ticket into this awful experience, filing this one under DMCA again. I get told to USE THE REPORT BUTTON (which hasn’t worked and proceeds to not work, I’ll go into how a user is allowed to have a homophobic status for almost a year now another time)
This is still under a DMCA ticket, mind you.
I reply I have already tried the report button many times to no avail, and this is my third ticket, copy and pasting the main juice of the first submission (all the stolen content) again incase they lost it. I get told this…
Followed up by another email half an hour later saying to file it under DMCA again. This is STILL on that third ticket, which is my second ticket under DMCA.
Also, not my ticket, but Sharkblox (big Roblox youtuber, made the trash gang mask UGC hat) posted this in their Discord about a year ago
I made all these tickets late last year. Happened between at least 20th of September and 10th of December.
Hopefully this is proof enough that Roblox couldn’t care less about if clothing gets stolen or not.
Thank youuu I can’t wait to see those spammers finally give up
Why are we removing premium only features that made you want to buy premium?
-
Are the spam items even going to be removed before this update comes out because if not, it’s still gonna be the same as before.
-
Will premium users have to pay to upload things?
-
If those spam bots can afford premium, they can most likely afford to upload more shirts just not at the span of 5 seconds.
The roblox captcha itself is half of the time broken for me I’ll literally be pressing the right stuff and it’ll say incorrect and will continue to give me more captcha questions each time I fail.
I heavily do not support this. You can bring up the argument it’s gonna stop bots but I guarantee it’s gonna stop other clothing designers too.
Anyway this is probably gonna release and there’s nothing we can do about it.
Edit: I would also like to point out how they are a billion dollar company so of course they aren’t going to listen to us we literally swallow whatever they bring out
Wow, if that what you say is true (Edit: Just saw your last reply, ok Roblox really need a fix), then I don‘t (personally) say why I would even create clothing on a platform, that just dosen‘t care about my creations. After I saw your last reply, Roblox really need a fix. Always, when the player base reported shady things (Moderation Team dosen‘t really works, poor account security, etc…), Roblox dosen‘t do anything. We just get a reply like „We are adding it to our to-do list; we will investigate/search about this; we can‘t do anything about this“ and the list continues. So, now that cloths theft is „legal“, wow, I already can imagine that they won‘t change the rules. And if they change it, after they „tried to clean the catalog“, they just will continue to do other amazing updates instead of the most important one, like improving account security. I don‘t say they shouldn‘t do updates, but why aren‘t they starting with the essential updates like improving the security of the website? But, anyways, why am I talking here if they anyways ignore the community most important requests, lets just hope that something happens (they self get hacked) and that then they will improve the security.
I don’t think this is fair. Premium has basically lost it’s use. Many ROBLOX clothing designers aren’t going to be doing clothing design anymore because its more useful to be able to upload clothing whenever, not having to pay a real life dollar to upload a piece of virtual clothing. I can understand if you could use robux, or premium to do so, but cutting premium fully out of the picture isn’t fair, and makes premium basically useless. I’d understand if premium users could upload for free, but non-premium players can pay.
I’m sure this is in response to people copying clothing, so:
Congratulations copiers, you got what you wanted.
Hopefully this fee is small enough so small clothing designers can still make profits. I’m glad that now everybody will be able to start designing, and this should fix the botted clothing!
That comment was my “What I think it should be”.
Eh, premium is still paying $5 a month for more than $5 of robux.
That’s the biggest bonus.
This isnt good for new clothing groups.
I know roblox wont listen to this but theres a better solution.
If you didnt have premium then you would have to pay the 100 robux fee but if you still had premium then you could make clothing for free.
So now, its easier to prevent spam but also lets clothing groups grow.
