well, no, just a 6$ premium account alone could release a thousand of clothes,
so i have no idea why you want that option back when it was the primary issue.
But overall, i don’t feels like it’s gonna change the current situation with clothes considering there are pretty much of everything available.
i’d like to see a slight increase in resolution so it would actually put a higher value on new releases rather than the botted selections.
also, perhaps a free 5 uploads for a premium account would be a nice intro instead of continuously removing the interests of owning premium.
Wait, wouldn’t premium more expensive then the robux fee? This really only fixes the long term, short term, people can just buy the amount of robux they need and publish items. If they were doing it before and making a profit I am not sure how this will stop them.
The post said that there is going to be a captcha when you upload clothing. Yeah a 6$ premium account could release a lot of clothing but could it get pass the captcha. (Im not sure lol)
Another thing to prevent spam from anyone is to limit the amount of clothing you could upload in a day.
I agree with this
Premium is getting its features removed slowly and I’m starting to feel like roblox wants to remove premium when it generates a lot of profit for them. The next thing getting removed from premium is possibly trading.
Well, this is absolutely awful, but I appreciate the attempt.
Going from uploading clothing for free to apparently charging 100 robux per item, a whole quid?
The big boys who make incredible amounts of robux can pretty much shrug this off like it’s nothing as they have huge successful clothing groups and make amazing amounts each time they advertise. However, the smaller, not as huge groups, notably the thousands who hardly or can’t even make a profit from advertisements to support this new feature…what are they supposed to do?
Give up? They probably will. £1 for each piece of clothing, and it’s so hard for small groups to make a profit through ads or sponsoring when Roblox already takes a huge cut of 30%, so that applied on top of the apparent 100 robux fee spells complete disaster.
Besides, isn’t this to prevent copying and bots? Bots, being plentiful, no doubt make incredible amount of robux as it is, so I’m sure that at most this will give them a bit of a poke, but nothing more. It would definitely help prevent people from copying clothes, however.
In the end, I feel like this is going to do a significant amount of damage to small groups and creators, and any groups that just can’t afford to win this new battle of attrition that will be implemented. Seems like way more harm than good is being done, and with bots, who are meant to be affected, will probably get off scot-free.
If you upload 1 clothing per day over 5 days then it would be the equivalent of 500 robux which is basically premium. While premium is a month of free uploading.
Premium also has more features so this dosent fix anything, only a bit of spam but not much.
It would shut down smaller clothing groups due to the fact they need to pay for each clothing they upload instead of free upload with premium. Idk if this would really help small clothing groups.
It’s not even about not having premium, as for I can almost never afford it, it’s about the fact that clothing isn’t profitable unless you have a massive group! With premium, you spend 5 dollars to upload UNLIMITED for a month. For my group, we upload anywhere from 7-15 items with that premium. So consider it this way. We would’ve had to spent 1.5k for that, and there is no possible way we would’ve made it all back.
Thats why I am saying that I am hoping that premium won’t have to pay a fee to upload clothes (keep it as is right now). If Roblox makes that change, this update would benefit both premium and non-premium users.
Hopefully Roblox staff looks into this forum, and comes up with another way to stop bot uploads, and benefit everyone.
Botting can still bypass this, since the core issue of the algorithm being garbage is still unaddressed
3 year-old botted clothing isn’t going anywhere, but legitimate clothing is held back, some people won’t want to upload because they have to go through the entire barrier of entry to get ROBUX onto their account, and the whole environment is generally unprofitable, unless you are a botter
There are still no options for creators to take down copied clothing in bulk, filing a DMCA does not seem to work either based on posts in here
I didn’t buy a 100 year membership to have features stripped away from my membership overtime, this is unfaithful towards older users
Clothing creators are literally better off looking for empty groups with clothing inside of them that garner ROBUX over the course of years, then making their own clothing, because there’s no fee to finding a group with 20 old shirts in it as a premium user, but all the profit in the world
Recommended Clothing algorithm is biased towards already big creators, did some experimenting with it, and it tends to lean towards already successful groups with high numbers of sales, rather then hot & upcoming creators
If you are a clothing designer, you have a better chance of blowing up by streaming yourself making ROBLOX clothing on youtube, then making anything on ROBLOX, stop making clothing when the entire algorithm is against you, it’s a waste of time, you are 100% being scammed.
Being completely honest I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this.
On one hand I like that the issue of copying is finally being addressed, and I also like the idea of being able to upload certain assets without premium quite a bit.
On the other hand, some of the other points leave me quite unsure.
The upload fee might heavily impact small/upcoming designers. There’s no guarantee they’d be making all that money back and also get to profit off of the item. It’s a huge leap for them, and not all of them may be willing to take it (or even be able to).
I feel that in a way this might give bots even more of a chance to grow instead of stopping them.
What I mean by this is: tons of copiers have gained more than enough from stealing assets to be able to continue copying without having to worry about the upload fee. That means they will easily be able to steal the asset, pay to upload it, and then use their usual way to bring it to the front page to profit off it.
All while the original one would get lost in the catalog with next to no sales due to the creator’s bad luck and/or lack of funds (which causes further disadvantage to original creators: consider that a lot of players don’t bother looking for the original and/or don’t know who made it, so they just buy the first copy that comes up when searching!).
As for the captchas, I like that addition. Even though, as we can see by the amount of spam accounts still being made, captchas somehow continue to get bypassed, it is nonetheless good to have, since it could manage to at least partly reduce the amount of spam-uploads.
Sorry, but will t-shirts be the only thing that cost robux to put on sale? Otherwise, if shirts and pants cost money to put on sale, clothing designers will not be able to make any money because they are taking something that they sell for like 5 robux at most and having to pay a fee of 100 robux to put on sale. This could get rid of botting, but also get rid of small clothing designers. This is very concerning to me, as I like to see UGC and if this comes out, it could get rid of part of this.
In the short term, the money you earn from premuim covers 4 uploads, use that, gain profit upload more, it isnt that effeftive against bots right away but eventually they may not turn a large enough profit to keep uploading.
Clothing designers should actually be happy about this because it’s discouraging thieves from stealing their designs and re-selling them in the Avatar Shop. Unless you steal other people’s designs, you’ve got nothing to worry about.
I would also like to think captcha is a decent blockade, but it’s a mere bandaid solutions that is constantly being bypassed for evil deeds.
bots posting in chat their scam website for robux has returned “once again”, there’s always a breach to these human checkups, and you do have a captcha upon login so i would assume nothing is solved as of now.
Ultimately, Bots will NOT spend 100 on republishing clothes that they’re not sure of selling properly, just like Audios that are by purchase, the catalog of it isn’t spammed at all (well, mainly because you cannot make money out of audio selling)
But anyways, there’s no such thing as a proper “bot” detection/restriction, considering their behavior can be coded in all sorts of way,
Roblox has been forced to pull out a feature that bots can’t do anything about, so yea, it’s gonna stay that way.
Wouldn’t the fee also discourage clothing designers to make clothing not knowing how many sales they will get and if they’ll earn the money they spent on the fee back
