Especially if they’re using the current one. It isn’t effective at all, and it’s impossible to solve. “Got it a little bit wrong? Do this 5 more times!” “Oh, you’re a bot? You don’t need it.” Many times I was not allowed to post on group walls because the captcha is so impossible for actual people.
Adding on to this, please just try to prove me wrong how the algorithm regarding uploading and designing clothes on ROBLOX isn’t broken. Most of the time they try to block out exploiters and people abusing the features, end up affecting actual players putting actual time and effort into their work. Again this is has to be one of the worst updates from ROBLOX so far.
What about us mobile designers? There is a good chunk of us small designers who don’t own a laptop. Not only that but all small designers will suffer and it’s going to turn out like all those ugc concepts (whick makes me sad because they really deserve in) but “Roblox clothing concept because roblox is taking all my money bc they greedy” i doubt this will help with clothing copiers too, they have access to our templates still because they are literally so easy to access with a few clicks of a button and they earn thousands of each design
As a clothing designer who is friends with multiple other creators, big and small, we’re not at all happy about this. This update might first seem a solution to the stealing problem, but there are definitely more effective ways of shutting down copiers instead of doing this. There’s already a lot of competition for smaller designers trying to grow, with stealers, front-pagers, botters, etc. in the way. How is this making anything easier at all for designers?
It won’t eliminate as many stealers as you may think, as all you need to do now is make a new verified account, buy maybe 10 USD worth of robux, make a group, and then upload stolen designs with the remaining amount of robux. Considering it’s stolen, it’s extremely easy for stealers to just mass produce and thus gain a lot of profit. Trust me, I’ve seen copy groups grow from 500 members to 8K, passing my own group with MY designs. And since you don’t even need to pay the fee for premium, a group owner can just payout their little alt accounts or other “designers/friends” to upload more stolen designs…
The whole reason why designers, especially smaller ones, will be hurt by this is because they may not have the experience or skills to create amazing designs YET. As I was growing, my skills and quality increased greatly, but it took over a year for me to get here. With the lack of needing to pay for uploading, we were able to make mistakes and learn overtime what looks good on an avatar and what doesn’t. Hence the reason why I know so many designers are quitting since they will be unable to afford this fee, since already being a designer on Roblox is dismissed as not important judging Roblox’s lack of protection for us.
Please don’t support this. If you are not a designer yourself, you will most likely not be impacted by this. Even if you want to upload clothing, it would not be as much as what an actual clothing designer makes in terms of amount of clothing. In fact, it would seem “good” since now you wouldn’t even need premium if you had a steady supply of at least over 100 rbx coming in each day, but most designers start with nothing. I started with nothing, only a group I bought with the funds from limiteds I sold and a decent free painting program.
If you paid on putting for sale, you could just copy other people’s shirts and wear them without paying.
So you’re basically taking away Premium benefits? Discontinuing clothing design as a whole? The entire reason people own popular clothing groups is for Robux (most of the time). How are they to make a profit if they have to pay to upload clothing? I understand the reasoning but it’s ridiculous for people who actually do this as a career? I can tell you right off the bat many designers are either going to quit Roblox or the entire clothing community will deteriorate. It’s good what you’re doing for non-Premium users in a way, but having to spend money on uploading clothing would take away the entire point, no one is going to upload clothing anymore. I’ve been trying to get into designing and just now trying to start a clothing group, and now you want to release this HORRIBLE update? Roblox, please, I am begging you, don’t do this.
While I mostly agree with the notions presented in your argument, it hasn’t changed my mind. While I haven’t been designing for 9 years, I’ve been designing for 5. Most of my work and experience comes from group contracting, so being able to upload without premium is a massive bonus for me, even with the fee. I do believe that many of the changes presented in this argument should be implemented. Allowing bots to rule the pages is bad for business either way. I have my own, smaller clothing group, and to say sales are short is quite an understatement. Without proper funding on the platform, no group can EVER launch without a large investor or a large portion of money for advertisements. This really needs to be fixed.
Some people like myself cannot afford the 100 Robux fee, My Robux is very limited and I want to use it sparingly. While it does prevent bot spam it also targets people like me in the crossfire who can’t afford this stuff.
Will premium members be able to bypass this fee or do they have to pay a fee too but smaller?
This update is certainly going to do more harm than good, the Roblox clothing design community will be paying more to upload it than they actually get back from it. Botting will probably still continue too, as they’ve made thousands from botting clothes, and it’ll be even worse now that premium isn’t required. But the people who actually make original clothes won’t have any resources to get started. For £4, you can only upload four items before you run out of money. You probably won’t get that money back either. I hope Roblox reconsiders this, as it’s going to have bad consequences, although I’m glad that you’re trying to combat botted clothing.
Begone, bots! This fee is, as @M_caw says, revolutionary! Whoever codes these things will soon be crying in the basement of a cardboard box. (Joking.)
Without Premium restrictions, clothing will become more creative and diverse. Few downsides exist here! I think we’ll see a surge in new clothing makers soon.
Revolutionary
no fee defined yet
article is very vague itself
what they say they’re going to do does not sound like a good idea whatsoever we’ve ranged fees from 5 to 100 by now
after reading much more it is way to soon to depend whether this is gonna ever be a good update
Flaws of this update:
- Premium has lost one of its primary uses
- 100 Robux fee per clothing is too steep for many
- Said fee discourages new clothing designers and smaller ones, and not wealthier established groups
- Fee likely wouldn’t hit the bots hard considering how bots already have a ton of clothes made over the years, and how they’ve probably stocked up on enough Robux
Roblox should definitely consider this idea, it would help a lot.
I’m not a designer but it’s frustrating for me too. The fee will cost more Robux than the Robux earned from sales on clothing from a small group on Roblox. Why can’t be created a good captcha to prevent SPAM like how some websites have?
Yea, whatever happened to those endorsed models?
It has been closed in 2017. I don’t see it coming back any time soon.
Well that’s honestly a shame. Roblox needs to bring back selective programs like this again.
It has been organized by a Roblox employee so I am not sure.
I see this as an absolute win. This will help stop lots of of clothing bots and keep the catalog clean.
