Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

I don’t know if this is already a thing, but you should make it so you need to have a verified email to create a shirt. Also premium and the captcha.

This is just a pain. Also my first time realizing that smaller clothing designers work really hard and barely earn anything at all. Couldn’t a limit to how much clothing you can upload in a day or certain time period have been better?

I cannot imagine how sad it would be to work for years on designing clothes, and then one day because of an update, give it all up. Even though I have no experience and barely any knowledge in the clothing industry of Roblox, this is definitely relatable to development.
I could develop games and progress for years, sacrificing lots of precious time and things I could have done, gone through lots of hardship and stress… now I’m gonna give it all up because of one update??

This update needs to be reverted.

I would rather have to pay for premium than to pay for Robux by itself. All you have to do with premium is pay $5 a month and you get to make as much clothing as you want. How much clothing can you make with $5 Robux when there is a fee? Not much compared to premium.

This update basically kills any small clothing designers. This also narrows down any premium perks which makes it pretty pointless to buy

But is it a sacrifice that is really worth it? Smaller clothing designers will be taking huge losses and little to no profits.

Pshh. This has done more harm than good. This update has barely affected any of the clothing bots who have made thousands or even millions of robux off stolen clothing while the smaller hardworking clothing designers are screwed over.

Please for the love of god reverse this update

They still have the opportunity to reverse this whilst it’s not out to all users. I hope Roblox values the feedback given and now understands how there will be detrimental effects to the clothing community as a result. This update isn’t simply something that the clothing community will get used to; it’s one that will leave a dent in the clothing community for the foreseeable future.

This is my idea on what they should do

This roblox’s worst update in many many years. It’s been hours and I still can’t wrap my head around how they thought this would be beneficial. Solve an ant problem by setting the house on fire.

Before this update, you already needed premium to upload, and there was a captcha for every piece of clothing after the first of the day. Bypassing the funcaptcha that Roblox uses is provably easy to do with little effort. (I don’t know why Roblox insists on using that unreadable abomination instead of the google recaptcha or something)
Verifying emails on bots is also insanely easy, as seen by like/dislike bots (you need a verified email to like/dislike games) so that goes out of the window too.

Both captcha services that you supplied already have been bypassed

I am disappointed in you roblox. From now on I will be making custom 3d clothes for my games. What is next, paying 1 robux for every chat message? Paying 100 robux to upload a mesh?

They said that this is going to be rolled out to stop upload abuse

I tried clothing designing in the past, this is what I made.

The thing is, i never made 50 robux out of it…

This doesn’t seem too well thought-out. I don’t think smaller designers would like this. It seems like a good idea to stop bots and such, but I have a feeling there’s gotta be another way to stop bots.

No it is because roblox is becoming like EA, a money hungry monster.

While this may seem like a good change especially to eradicate botted clothing, this will be very bad for young designers, having to pay such an amount of Robux is incredibly expensive for them, and they’ll only have to pay as much as they make, meaning they’ll make little to no profit out of their clothes.
If you want to fix botted clothes;

  • Accounts must be 300-400 days old (or older) in order to upload a clothing item to the catalog.
  • Clothing items are to be moderated and are to be reverse searched (search for any copies) before being published in order to avoid copied clothes.

This does not have to be manual, it can be automatic, it’ll take time and effort to bring out a solution like this, but it’ll be much better than losing a lot of designers (and good ones) over bots. At the end of the day, if this change is implemented, it doesn’t help the designing community at all (especially for those who seek on starting a charter on designing, it’ll be much harder to start one), it only makes the rich richer.

Tell me what you think about this. This is my opinion about the current changes.

I think you mean “new” not “young”

There has been many times when my partner has brought up the fact that we had never really made a profit off of our group. Each time he thinks we should maybe shut it down or consider it, it’s a solid no from me. My group means a lot for me, and I’ve worked so hard to get it where it is.

But for the first time, I think it is going to have to be closed. I would say around 80% of our outfits have not made over 50 robux. Thus, it is completely unprofitable, and throwing money into a hole with the hope to fill it, but it keeps getting bigger. This update makes me feel like I might have to switch to doing only commissions.

Speaking of commissions, who’s going to even be able to pay us anymore? With the upload fee, commission prices are going to go way down and the demand is going to significantly fall because people can’t afford to pay a designer and pay the upload fee.

And to think that this is going to solve the botting problem is wrong. Botted clothing creators have anywhere from 1000s to 100000s of robux. They can afford this even more than the small designers can! Honestly, they are probably elated right now because they don’t have to spend 5 bucks to upload, they can just take their already existent robux.
