Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

I won’t be able to make any T-shirts anymore due to me not having a lot of robux and not able to buy any. Great job roblox -_-

I also just hired a Clothing designer and now she won’t make anything due to this.

I well appreciate you all trying to work towards a better catalog. But making it cost $100 Robux is a lot to a small Designer. I design clothing and I have made no were close to $100 Robux. It is devastating that we need to relate to paying $100 Robux just post a single piece of clothing. Stolen clothing will continue to happen as the more clothing one steals and copies, the more Robux they earn off of those clothing items. I would love to see the Roblox Staff Team do a better job at coming up with an idea. Possible limiting amount of clothing to be uploaded per day? We need something better to solve a problem like this. Listen to your community.

Now this hopefully solve the botting problem which is good because this has been a problem on Roblox for years now and this should hopefully be a viable solution. But it comes at a cost this hurts small clothing designers who want to start making clothing on Roblox and it might turn away new clothing designers.

This is the big problem here in my honest opinion this should not exist. This fee alone will kill small roblox clothing designers and if Roblox staff doesn’t act soon the clothing catalog will just be as boring as it was 8 years ago. Now me as a small independent Roblox game developer if I have to ever pay a 100$ robux fee to create a game and a another 50$ robux to activate it I would be losing a lot of robux from it might turn me away from Roblox as a game developer. I have a friend who owns a clothing group with over 1,000 members in it and they have said they don’t like it one bit because of how much sales they get and once they get affected by this they will start losing robux big time. Make you change quick because if you don’t you will lose some talented people who care about this platform.

Edit: One way you can fix this issue is by adding how much shirts and pants you can make in one day. For example you can only make 6 pants and shirts on the catalog daily with a 25$ robux upload fee which can still attract smaller clothing designers or newer clothing designers who start make clothing. I’m fine with a fee still just because this can really solve the botting problem. Or better yet add a captcha and you got yourself a fixable solution they can really put a dagger in the botting problem on the Roblox clothing catalog.

50 robux per shirt or pants. For T-shirts you have to pay a one time fee of 50 robux

Honestly, this really sucks for designers. But, I’ll go over my criticism.

First of all, designers deserve more then %70 of the item sales. Some talented shirt and pants designers deserve %80 or %90 since some designers make money from Roblox.

Second of all, paying for 50 R$ for a first timer is really really stupid. I just don’t like it.

This alone just doesn’t sit right with me. I don’t want to pay 50 R$ to upload shirts and pants.

Also, instead of content deleting clothes, how about taking them PERMANENTLY offsale? This way, the users who bought copies won’t have to rebuy it for no reason, and the catalog would also get cleaner.

I understand that big lot of people are against this, but from my early days I’ve been taught to look at things from the positive side if possible, I’m happy I can find one here!

Basically a few years ago when I was a small kid new to roblox and wanted to try out development etc. including clothing design, there was a problem though, you needed premium(well, builders club it was, not premium yet) but my problem was that I was obviously just a kid and couldn’t get funding to buy BC anywhere, especially my parents didnt give a single damn, so even from that side I couldn’t be funded, that’s when I decided to just go on the other path then clothing design, scripting, building, modeling, blender rendering(GFX), etc. Here I just taught myself by tutorials on youtube etc. and then, I was able to do commissions and earn robux!

This is also an idea for the clothinng designer with a good determination strength, do some commissions, there are people like me who pay around 1000 robux per clothing design! Juust find yourself some customers and you’ll have robux to publish in no-time, might even be easier then getting money to buy premium which I have no clue where you are getting as I was not able to back then.

Goodluck to everyone this has affection on, I’ll hope for you that it’ll turn in whichever way it’s best for you,
Cheers

Most users aren’t against the fee; they’re against how high it is.

I understand that, thank you for filling that up as I forgot to mention that in my post.

Since day one I haven’t understood this update and do not agree with it.

All this update was gonna do is make the catalog look pretty and end thousands of designers’ careers.
Why should the people who have done nothing need to pay 100 Robux to get 1 piece of clothing in their shop and then not even earn 100% of what that makes?
Premium is becoming useless at this point and now it’s not worth it.
If you already had to pay for premium to create clothing, then what makes you think adding a fee will help?
Sure it’ll slow it down but these people had to pay before and they have to pay again.
If the botted clothing stays in the catalog they’ll earn from it and be able to afford more.
Then you’ve got small designers who have to pay 100 robux when their group might not even have 100 members. Most groups have to charge their clothes at 5 robux to attract more people, but they have to pay 100 robux to earn 3 robux? How does that make sense?
Why can’t you just get some clothing moderators who can check for botted clothing and just not let them be uploaded?
Why are you punishing us for an issue that you have with your catalog?
There are tons of other ways to do this and this is the worst option because it effects everybody in a negative way- You’re losing designers, premium payers and support by the hour because of this update and this whole forum topic shows that.

Why are we, the people who create for you and basically make Roblox what it is, having to be punished for poor moderation and botted clothing? It’s not fair to anybody except people with fans, followers or money.
Most designers are kids, most players are kids, where can they earn that money?
It isn’t fair that we are being punished for your lack of moderation, why can people be bullied and swear and nothing happens, because making the catalog nice is more important?
I get that the catalog is in an awful state but there is another way.

Why can’t you add a tags feature to give each clothing piece a tag it can be searched for with? Like hashtags. It would make clothes more visible. Make it so you can only have a limited amount of tags so people can’t spam, while you roll that out then go back and remove as much botted clothing as you can and boom, everybody is happy and thousands of people aren’t leaving the site

There are ways around this, you just didn’t think of them and look what’s happened, it’s chaos and everybody hates it.
It’s not right or fair and this had better be resolved in a way that doesn’t put thousands out of a job.

What I was most scared about.

Why? Like i said in another post of mine, when this update goes through, a lot of small clothing designers (including me) will quit. I only earn 20-50 robux on a good peice of clothing. Some clothes I don’t make profit off at all! The botters however, they will bot their clothing to the top of the catalog and get their robux back.

It’s even easier to upload clothing for them, because they now don’t need Premium to do it!

Why doesn’t Roblox make a system that declines a upload when a certain amount of a clothing peice matches with something that already exists?

I appreciate the effort that Roblox staff puts into stopping botters, but this is just not the way to do it.

And I thought I was gonna start getting into clothing design. LOL. Back to graphics it is…

26 designers I’m friends with have quit. 26. That’s people I know of. I understand that sounds small. However, I see dozens more messages on Twitter of people who are quitting. I don’t think you’re very much aware of how hard this has hit many of us. Even if we do stay, we’ve lost our supporters, our friends and it’s really gonna be tough to build that back up again.

26?! And that’s only the designers you are friends with… I can’t imagine how many people will quit. I really hope Roblox realizes they made a mistake.
