I disagree, 10 Robux is just fine. Bots won’t stop no matter what roblox does anyway. They always have some advantage which would make anything they do useless. 10 bobux is actually better than paying for premium imo, in the past I wanted to submit clothing but couldn’t because I wasn’t premium.
You get free robux from the subscription though. If you’re not planning to use the robux for anything else, there is no cost except for the cost of buying Premium.
Like I said, I’m paying real money for benefits most players do not get, stripping them away or nullifying them is making premium out to be an absolute scam, I can just buy robux whenever I want, I pay for the benefits, not for the robux.
Absolutely true. I agree that Premium perks are being stripped away- I just don’t think having uploading be free for Premium users is a good idea considering the bots can just get Premium like they did before.
I still think getting 1 month of Premium would be better than buying Robux outright. With a Premium subscription, the same amount of USD (or other currency) will get you more Robux.
$5 = 400 robux, no Premium
or…
$5 = 1 month of Premium and 450 robux
Even if you completely ignore the (almost nonexistent) Premium perks, you still get 50 more Robux for your money.
It might be a silver lining, but it certainly does not make Premium worth the purchase, the benefits of Premium are the biggest selling point for people, I paid for reduced tax rate on things I sell, I paid to not have to deal with these types of updates.
This update by itself is bad and will only hurt legitimate clothing makers, and at the same time, make Premium even less worth it to buy.
Bots will find loopholes and work arounds regardless, this is only going to be damaging, it won’t help with anything. Plus bots aren’t a big deal, sure the clothing market gets saturated with copies, but Roblox has other solutions they aren’t thinking of, or aren’t going through with. What if their content bot checked to see if the clothing looks identical to something already on sale? Or what if it checks a users age, their username, appearance, etc. to check if they look suspicious and might be a bot?
I am not in support of this update. I never said I was. But 10 R$ for everyone is better than 50 R$ for everyone.
With this update you do not need Premium in order to upload. Uploading will be open to all users once this update is fully rolled out.
Purchasing Premium is a personal choice that will vary for each individual. Again, maybe they just want it for the extra R$. Maybe you don’t, and that’s fine. Personally, I maintain my Premium subscription for that extra influx of R$ every month and the various perks that some games give to Premium users.
I do wish Roblox would find an alternative solution, but we have to work with what we’re given.
Many designers are canceling or planning to cancel their Premium once this update completely comes out. Whether or not Premium users experience the upload fee is irrelevant.
As I said…just cancel. Nobody’s forcing them to maintain their subscription. You don’t seem to be retaining what I am typing; I’m going to end the debate here. Have a good day.
I’ve thought about ways they could create other solutions. You mentioned in your second point with removing the option of copying the picture (I’m assuming you mean the clothing asset ID with the template). And here’s how I think they could do that: locking/restricting the page to either the designer or locking it altogether so only admins have access to it.
Here is what I mean:
This is the shirt’s page where people buy it from, note the clothing ID in the URL ends in a 1.
(URL for anyone who wants the link): White Lazer
Here is the asset ID page, the ID ends in a 0.
This is the page that would be restricted and maybe it’ll display something like “You don’t have permission to view this page”.
I’m aware this won’t solve every problem, especially with the already stolen assets, but I think this would be a feasible solution because then the bots can’t get access to the template. Even with the Studio method to get clothing templates, if they were to go there, the page would be locked.
yes, right!!! something like this is just what i was looking for. they need to have a way of restricting the page to the bots so it doesn’t happen again.
In theory, the way I imagined it, it’s only the webpage that would be restricted from viewing not necessarily restriction from the asset ID. Think of it as when you try to go to a banned person’s profile. The URL is for their profile, but the error message comes up.
Alternatively, since you can wear the shirt (especially if you’re the original creator, you have access to it), you can snag the ID from in Studio and going to the Shirt element/item. Roblox’s client would be able to access the asset assumably.
I’m know it’s not concrete as an idea, definitely flaws and other considerations to be thought about — more than someone like me who doesn’t know a whole ton of back end stuff — but the general idea is there.
Technically speaking that wont work. You can easily set up a webhook from studio to discord and send the texture IDs through then have a bot grab the texture and upload it instantly.
before, bots could use the link from step 2 directly, but that api was removed
the only solution would be to change the api endpoint weekly or so, but most bots already have shirt collections
