Upcoming Changes to Avatar Catalog Upload Requirements

@Expressoul Hey Expressoul! Just wanted to update you on my group. We have 76 members now and a BUNCH of sales. I also talked to a ROBLOX admin about Wanwood and they looked into it. Apparently they were buying and selling robux and the group was locked. I am getting good guidance from the owner of unquiet club 69 k members and ROBLOX HQ. I am working 24/7 growing my group and making clothes. I was wondering if you had any guidance or suggestions for me and I really hope I can talk to you. I dont need to work with you or anything I just want to be able to talk with a God loving Christian like you. You are very supportive and I am praying for you. I wish you the best of luck and feel free to add me back on Discord. oj4f#9882

Gonna quickly say I think they may have rolled this update back, because I went to put clothing onto my group, and instead of paying the 50 bux I got an error saying I need membership to upload clothing. I did have to pay robux many times in the past few months, so it’s not like it wasn’t rolled out to me or anything.

Has anyone else experienced this, or is this a bug? (I don’t wanna waste my irl money on premium if I’m not gonna end up using it more than a day)

Edit: Last night it was re-added, however 10 bux instead of 50 robux, which is a much more acceptable price in my opinion.

That’s much more acceptable, but it really makes you question is there much point of a fee now considering it’s extremely low and affordable? Although I am not complaining as 100 for a full outfit was a hefty price to be paying and I welcome a smaller price, I think it really demonstrates that having a fee set at a low price will have a minuscular effect, and then if it’s too much, it will be have catastrophic effects on smaller designers, meaning nobody wins. The point being made is that a fee really doesn’t seem like an effective strategy to addressing the botting problem since there are too many ramifications if it’s a high or low price. I believe other strategies now need to be explored considering botting will be even easier now without premium, instead of continuing with the implementation of a fee - whatever the price is.

I’m glad that the price floor was lowered to 10 robux per item, but no benefits for premium users? It seems like premium is now becoming a useless feature unless you’re trading?

You used to have to have builders club/premium to make groups - That is now possible for non/premium players

You used to have to have builders club/premium to upload clothes (Other than the NBC groups) - That is now possible for non/premium players

So the only benefits to premium now is you can trade (Which seems to be a small community now in itself) and a 10% on top of all robux purchases? Unless I’ve missed any premium benefits that I’m unaware of, it seems to me that premium is basically useless now unless you’re a die hard trader.

I mean this update removes the need for premium. I get enough robux from dev commisions, although 30 percent of that is yoinked by roblox because they require more of what they make??? anyway, 10 robux per item is fine with me, but i’ve been on the platform since 2015 (old acc), and I remember when it was worth getting BC/Premium because it let you make groups, and shirts, and would let you trade. But why would I get premium now? I don’t trade at all soo… less profit…

Honestly, I see a better way to make profits is just do dev commisions. I’m good at clothing designing and developer work, but now clothing is sort of p r i c e y. Maybe consider removing the 30% yoink or let us overwrite shirts.
If roblox reads this it’ll be the end of the world as I doubt they read this stuff.

ROBLOX Is now the SCP foundation.
They are securing their profit.
They are containing creativity using a paywall.
And they are (in a way) protecting the pay to win ideology under the guise of ‘Powering Imagination??’.

E A sports.
It’s in the game.

I never had to pay a fee since this update first came out. I’ve uploaded multiple pieces of clothing- no fee. Is this a glitch?

Think people underestimate people who make bot like these. Highly doubt there be a full stop to the spam. But depending how this turns out could also depend on how we see clothing priced in the future. Depending on how the fee turns out.

No it not a glitch it just probably not updated for everyone yet.

They wont let creators overwrite shirts because if someone buys a shirt then it changes to something totally different from what they purchase they that user wont be happy.

Has anybody else noticed that things regarding the upload fee changed recently?

Uploading a shirt/pants now only costs 10 R$ for some non-premium users.

Emphasis on the some- I went on a non-premium alt to test and it still says I need a subscription to upload clothes.

Woops, just noticed that @cpguy5089 posted about this a few days ago. However it’s weird because every individual seems to be experiencing this update quite differently. For example, I was able to upload a shirt today on my main account and my Robux didn’t change (maybe because I have Premium?)

yup! multiple people I know have gotten the update, although it hasn’t rolled out to me yet. I still don’t think this update is a good idea, but at least 10 is better than 50.

Yeah, I just hope it stays at 10 and doesn’t turn out to be some glitch.

10 Robux is FAR too low to be at all effective in preventing botting. The fee should be restored to 50R$.

I do agree about 10 Robux being too low to have an effect, but I do not agree with reverting it back to 50. Premium won’t be needed anymore, so it’ll be even easier for botters. 50 has too many detrimental effects on small designers. Other strategies to stop botting needs to be explored now.

Then let us overwrite shirts only if they’re made private first.

And uh, not all of us have lots of bobux, so 50 is h u g e.

Did this update turn out to be a catastrophic failure like we all predicted, or did they just silently backtrack on it? It’s been almost two months since this started rolling out and clothing copying is still in full force. Surely it should have rolled out to enough people to make a difference. Unless it’s the slowest roll-out ever.

What I don’t get about this change is why people are ungrateful roblox decided to lower it at all. They could have just given everyone a non-committal agreement to look into it and never changed it, but they fixed it and people are hating on that too.

I think some need to realize that roblox employees are people too, treating them like malfunctioning robots isn’t going to do any good for anyone.

While 10 robux isn’t much for me, it’s still annoying how I’ve been paying for premium (and Builders Club for all of you who remember when that existed) for years. I like the idea that non-premium members are allowed to upload clothing with a fee, but Premium players should be able to upload clothing without a fee. We’re already paying real money for Premium so I don’t understand why they’re continually taking premium perks away from us.

Surprisingly, I disagree.

I was about to agree with your point that Premium users should be able to upload without a fee, but wait- that’s how it was before, and bots were operating just fine under that system.

If the fee isn’t applicable for all users, then no real change would come out of this update. I believe Roblox’s idea here is to hit them with multiple paywalls, instead of being able to pay $5 a month to upload unlimited clothing.

It is fair to argue that Premium perks are being slowly stripped away, but I also think that Premium is still a good thing to have, if not a necessity. With the cheapest subscription, you get 450 R$ a month. Assuming the fee will remain 10 R$ per item, a completely broke designer could afford upload 45 designs per month. That is more than enough for the average designer (heck, I can’t even get out 1 design per WEEK!)
