[Update] Changes to Asset Privacy for Audio

So, you’re saying that, music cannot be used in your games if not made by you, but sfx by other people would still work? If that’s the case, I’m quite relieved. I was going to move onto unity when I saw the last post, but then I saw this and it kind of made my day. But, you mentioned other asset types. If Roblox makes it so that they private all models or decals, it would be impossible for new developers to build and make a game, so please do not private other assets such as models or decals.

Oh yeah, a simple request, you guys should not private older audio used in games that were made by employees (ex, SFOTH, by Shedletsky), as they show the history of roblox, and that if the music in those games were muted, it would impact the game so badly that the history of roblox will be deleted. Overall, good update

This does give a breath of fresh air, as I can finally upload custom audio clips without having to spend lots of money on a game that I don’t even know will make a high ROI. Even more so that SFX will be made public so my team can continue with little audio-fix headaches.

I know I can, but … it was just example =D
Someone can’t, because if still being DEV, he don’t need to have the rights to create group experiences (by his role in group). Or he isn’t in the group either, but (he) is asked for help from the dev and (he) is given with file to fix and he can’t, because he doesn’t hear the audio. Do I need to think about more examples?

What idiot decided to make moderated uploads count against the extremely small upload limit?
And how are the moderation bots this terrible?

This is completely unjust and stupid. We (the developers affected by this update) need more uploads. The small limit, the trigger-happy moderation bots, and the extremely short timeframe make reuploading all audios before they become unusable impossible.

Agreed, this is ridiculous. There needs to be a huge expansion to the audio cap for everyone, regardless of ID verification. 250 - 350 is a good range.

Yeah that is annoying, I had one of those, -1 from your upload slots for a blocked audio, oof.

They should have saved the limit for after the deadline so ppl could fix their games at least, then turn on whatever cap they came up with. Too late now.

I hope they do, same as I hope for better overview of people or groups I want to share that asset with.

Will there be any seamlessly looping vehicle engine sounds in the library? Currently, I can only find sounds of cars passing by and impacts (including vehicle human body impacts :face_with_raised_eyebrow::face_with_raised_eyebrow::face_with_raised_eyebrow::face_with_raised_eyebrow:)

Say goodbye to blaring loud music with boomboxes bois :pensive:

Can we get clarification to how the upload limits are determined?

I went from 10, to 100 after verifying my account. I’ve spoken to other developers and their limits are far higher. We’re all on Devforum as regulars, all been playing for several years, verified and so on, even having bought Builders Club in the past as well.

What’s the criteria for these limits, because right now they seem arbitrary and that is rather frustrating. I understand the need to limit it to preserve both storage and bandwidth costs, but at least publishing how you can increase your limit to the max would be great…

Unfortunately I fear that most SFX will still be silenced on Tuesday. For me the plugin has not qualified anything longer than 6 seconds (except Roblox-owned audio), and they were promising to eventually have user sound effects be public, but I kinda think that is just a restating of the fact they were going to eventually allow distribution without having an estimate as to when…

max time limit for privacy should be 20 seconds tbh

I would be fine with it if all the audios were public and you had the option to make it private, and the cap was increased to 50… this will break most of the abandoned games (eg. Games that stopped updating) and games with boomboxes, or paid music in games. I find this sad that Roblox is coming up with updates like this. You guy’s are known for bad Developer Relations… and it took another bad turn.

10 sounds per month it’s not enough. For developers should be minimum 150-200.

I don’t know if it’s just me but didn’t there used be ‘Most Favourited’, ‘Most Relevant’ options etc in the audio search settings? This appears to be no more. Now it’s just the ‘Creator’ and ‘Sound length’.

I’m almost certain these options were available in the past. Anyone else agree?

If so, I would love to see these search options added back please. I like searching for popular audio. It makes searching for the most popular audio (and often the best audio) much easier. :+1:

Would be cool if we could also allow people to use our animations like this.

They were, but for some reason roblox decided to remove under the guise of “improving search”.

Take this team and make them do the opposite. Make them take down the few offending audios instead of whitelisting only a few of the compliant audios.

In my opinion this update is not too bad at all, fortunately the game that my friend is making doesn’t use many songs, the only thing that I complain is that I can’t upload songs and put it in the game that my friend is making. (Team create)
