If Roblox cracks down harder on copyrighted assets, then there will be more false positives. Roblox is not even supposed to be a media sharing platform, it would require something like YouTube’s algorithm to accomplish this, which is around 28 times more profitable. Roblox has nor the resources nor time to be able to accomplish such a fanatical feat.
If Roblox doesn’t crack down harder on copyrighted assets, it faces legal trouble from licensing programs, which they have already promised to resolve.
Well in 2021, they were worth $38 billion. But YouTube’s worth in 2020 was only $19 billion. So yes, they do have the capabilities of accomplishing the task. They are not doing it because it costs money, something Roblox values heavily. They do have the time, they just don’t do it since it takes way more than 10 seconds to implement.
I want to be helping my friends adapt to the change, but because of the limit, all of the audio is having to be uploaded to just one of my friends’ accounts, and even then, he’s already had issues with it. 200 - 500 would be a good range.
I just thinked. What if players can upload audios for free for their own puposes, and their audios will be private, but if they want to make audios public, they will need to pay some robux as before?
there has never been a way for creators to choose how their audio assets are used on the platform. all you needed in the past to take someone elses audio even if they didn’t want you using it is the ID number
Roblox doesn’t even handle ID verification. They outsource it to another company called “Veriff” that seems pretty legit. Have you bought robux from roblox? If so, why would you trust them with your billing information but not your ID?
Roblox gamecards exist, allowing you to bypass handing them your billing information while still being able to purchase Robux/Premium. Completely different concept.
I do not buy Robux with a regular old credit card. I use gift cards because in my country, it is, for some reason, cheaper to get a 10$ gift card to get 800 Robux than to spend 13$ for 800 Robux.
yeah i am overthinking it a bit much. i’m just mad about the new audio update with the “audio longer than 6 seconds will be private” thing. honestly, the things i do like about it are audio permissions, that’s pretty good, and the fact that roblox is not going after sound effects and will try their best to keep them up, which i am all for.
sorry that i was pretty much acting like cinemasins
Well the solution can be removing all the copyright sounds instead of making most of the sounds (that are not even copyrighted) private, lets just think about the games that have 100+ audios how they gonna replace them in just few days, well what about the devs who work and make their game alone?
Understandable roblox got sued but because of this update most of the developers gonna quit or might move to another platform and 40% of the people spend their robux on boombox or music gamepass
But please, I request you to atleast change the 6 seconds length to 30-40 seconds.
Normal songs are over 2-3 minutes and not in seconds so what if our SFX (sound effect) is 15-30 seconds long?
Audio restrictions exception
Can you at least “break” the lock in private places, like the ones that aren’t uploaded to Roblox? I call these “testing places” where I test things before making them public and the problem is … I test there something that goes for group game, but I can’t test it (for example) in group places and now I can’t use that audio when testing anywhere else. So making an exception in private, non-Roblox-saved places would be awesome. No one else can play that place and hear the sound, after all.
