Problem is, it’d just be like selling your audio again if there was no requirement.
Roblox can’t(or doesn’t want to now) take payment for uploading copyrighted audio(even if they don’t allow it, people do it) so the uploads have to be free. Likely due to legal issues.
Limiting these alt accounts to 10 will suppress this illegal uploading to some extent. IDK how well this will work out we will have to wait and see.
Can i also get confirmation on the way Audio Sharing will be handled?
From a moderation POV.
I have a game that heavily relies on UGC, with complete automatic systems to take models from other people who have inserted the model id into our whitelister, with which the audio sharing system will fix.
But i want to know whether or not our game will be responsible for the audio uploaded by other people, or if it will be our responsibillity.
I wish the increased upload limit could have been a Premium benefit or repetitive uploads could have costed Robux like badges and not be behind ID verification which I believe is discriminatory for the young creators that can only upload 10 per month.
This sounds very promising on what roblox is dealing with this situation.
However from previous issues we had to wait 1 year for a feature to be re-added. I really hope we don’t wait too long for this to be dealt with.
With many developers fixing audio I would like to see how roblox are re-adding some sound effects as this update is a huge impact still on some games
Ohhh this is something I had not considered!
Even with this in mind, the limit does not stop the evil uploaders. Most of them wont upload in their main in the first place! Having audios free means that this can be abused quite heavily. While this would delay a lot developers, the bad sound uploaders will just keep going with no restrictions, only slightly slowed down by the time of creating a new account.
A small limit does not help here. It only hurts the developers.
This being said it still does not excuse the reasoning behind ID verification imo. Why not do something around the likes of having activity on the Devforums? Hell, even just being on the devforums? As it is, it feels like a desperate attempt to get everyone ID verified.
Seems like the backlash this update received did have some effects. However, why even make this audio privacy update in the first place? Completely unnecessary in my opinion.
Roblox are moving way from having premium benefits other than in-experience benefits, it seems.
I have 2000 uploads per month without ID verification and never had a premium account
Can you prove it with a gif showing both name and uploads? Make sure to refresh the page in the recording too.
I’m uh, at at school right now and I’m pretty sure i cant access the create page on mobile devices
But yea I’ll make a post showing my uploads per month when I get home including a video
i know, but if i don’t enter a number, i cant submit it, and if i do enter a number, i also cant submit it
I only have around 300 but I have studio access to a few large games.
Nice to see Roblox doing something about the huge criticism from this update. I have 2000 audios uploads (idk how, I’ve never DevExed) so that will help. This update still is not good, however better than what it was before.
Another question:
Will we be able to make our music audios public for anyone to use still?
Can we please exclude Audio that are UNDER 6 SECONDS exactly? Why round up so that it includes 5.5 seconds+?
I have a audio that’s 160+ long but the plugin says it counts as a sound effect (I all ready replaced it just in case)
@BitFist, one thing I don’t understand is why audios for sale a going to be private? So many people use these audios and some of the uploaders are probably inactive.
Thank you for sorting this out!
Thanks for the update on the situation. Given recent discoveries, from the lawsuit and thinking about it for a while, I realize this is inevitable regardless. I don’t blame JUST ROBLOX for this decision anymore, I more so blame the record companies suing and users knowingly uploading copywritten content to the developer’s catalog. Now, don’t get me wrong, ROBLOX should 100% improve moderation given that the site has a long history of allowing stolen goods to exist for LONG, LONG periods of time, going as far back to Pokemon Brick Bronze, the devs of the game who just uploaded completely stolen/reused assets from Nintendo until a takedown was issued. But given situation, I don’t see it as just ROBLOX’s fault anymore.
Mannn It stucks how It’s 100 uploads per month for the ID Verified accounts lol
