My game haven’t any sounds right now, and I have 10 upload limit. I need upload 200-300 audios for only SFX like mining, swimming, building; but for enemies, which have their own noises… I should spent 100 years to make all audios, music and noises.
I don’t want use pre-maded SFX, monstercat sounds, because, I mean, Roblox will have another bug, which will make them private
fairly certain some of the monster cat music being taken down was a mistake. the specific affected audios will probably be back in a few days.
yeah this kinda thing really sucks. I hope that the sound effects are of high enough quality and variety to serve as at least a temporary bandaid fix to the audio issues. the fact that you get 10 uploads and the only thing you can do is verify your ID to get more kinda sucks. you should at least be able to pay to get more.
you can just make a new game under the group and that should solve your problem.
speculation, not confirmed
woah there hold your horses… slow down a bit and consider the bigger picture of this change…
much easier said than done
@Synitx I get what you’re saying in some places like the SFX thing… But creators should be able to determine when, where, and who can use the assets they upload to the platform. Imagine paying a sound composer a good chunk of money to make YOU sound effects for your game just to have others using the assets that YOU paid for. the current system of audios doesn’t allow for any privacy. you can’t choose if your asset is listed on the creator market place and anyone with the audio ID can just use your audio.
You and every developer deserve the right to determine how the assets you upload to the platform are used.
This is how it should’ve been from the start, but the rollout of this update has been iffy.
Well its not me, i also make radio gamepass and people wants the refund because of this change, they play copyrighted music in the game so they obviously dont want to play any kind of “happy beat” thing uploaded by roblox
audio IDs arent changing. if someone wants to play monster cat audios or whatever other audios from the catalog that are still public after this change they can do so. only thing that’s changing is the amount of music available.
ofc it does suck that you can’t play whatever song you want, but that’s just how copyright is.
meanwhile I’ll continue to jam out to my favorite,
make it a group game and upload the asset under the group. pretty sure it also works if the person that uploaded the audio has edit access to the place, but regardless making it a group game is just best practice.
Can someone do something about the limit? Maybe an application to Roblox Support that could give you 100-200 audios?
I know you can verify your ID, but not everyone feels comfortable with giving their personal identity to an online megacorporation, especially when said company hires horrible moderators.
A couple of my friends just gave up game development because of this, only because they got the unlucky 10 audio limit.
Roblox itself does not have a copy of your ID and does not directly manage the ID verification process. It is managed by a 3rd party and utilizes AI, not human verification, to determine the legitimacy of an ID and if it belongs to a living breathing human.
Roblox’s FAQ says, Q: Is it safe to verify my age this way?
A: Yes! We want you to know that we take our community’s safety and privacy seriously, and Roblox never stores raw ID document data . When a government-issued ID is scanned for verification, an anonymized value is generated, allowing Roblox to safely verify identity without risking exposure of the user’s real identity.
The information you provide during the ID verification process is deleted after 90 days.
Refer to Veriff’s Privacy Policy, Roblox’s 3rd party ID verification service, for information around how your data is handled by them.(tldr its safe)
With this in mind, you shouldn’t have any doubts in verifying your ID. You’ve probably already given Roblox your billing information, why not verify your ID to get 100 uploads?
Of course, 100 uploads for some isn’t enough, but 100 is leagues better than 10.
Completely giving up because of this change is undoubtedly irrational.
Would be cool if they could get some music labels on board. If the privacy controls would allow a user level permission where a player could buy a song like they buy a hat(with robux) or a music pass for a library of songs, then be able to play it in any experience(that has boombox for example) the same way you can buy a track irl and play it in the park for friends to hear.
Maybe these new privacy controls will pave the way for something like that? IDK.
This won’t affect me as my game is new and thus doesn’t have much sounds, but it also will affect me because I’m not ID verified. Please increase the amount of audio you can upload for non verified users. 50 would be good because ID verified users have 100 so why not make it so non verified users have half of that number?
Thank you for seeing everything and taking every single piece of feedback into consideration.
It really makes developers like me happy to know that we are not alone in this and we have Roblox to provide us with as many tools to help!
Totally into the whole “SFX” category, FINALLY! Such a useful audio category. Thank you, seriously thank you. With the stock market not doing the best right now, you still decided to purchase a license with Pro Sound Effects, which is phenomenal.
So, you’re saying that, music cannot be used in your games if not made by you, but sfx by other people would still work? If that’s the case, I’m quite relieved. I was going to move onto unity when I saw the last post, but then I saw this and it kind of made my day. But, you mentioned other asset types. If Roblox makes it so that they private all models or decals, it would be impossible for new developers to build and make a game, so please do not private other assets such as models or decals.
Oh yeah, a simple request, you guys should not private older audio used in games that were made by employees (ex, SFOTH, by Shedletsky), as they show the history of roblox, and that if the music in those games were muted, it would impact the game so badly that the history of roblox will be deleted. Overall, good update
This does give a breath of fresh air, as I can finally upload custom audio clips without having to spend lots of money on a game that I don’t even know will make a high ROI. Even more so that SFX will be made public so my team can continue with little audio-fix headaches.
I know I can, but … it was just example =D
Someone can’t, because if still being DEV, he don’t need to have the rights to create group experiences (by his role in group). Or he isn’t in the group either, but (he) is asked for help from the dev and (he) is given with file to fix and he can’t, because he doesn’t hear the audio. Do I need to think about more examples?
What idiot decided to make moderated uploads count against the extremely small upload limit?
And how are the moderation bots this terrible?
This is completely unjust and stupid. We (the developers affected by this update) need more uploads. The small limit, the trigger-happy moderation bots, and the extremely short timeframe make reuploading all audios before they become unusable impossible.
Agreed, this is ridiculous. There needs to be a huge expansion to the audio cap for everyone, regardless of ID verification. 250 - 350 is a good range.
