That is the main problem I’m experiencing with the fact they set longer sound effects including narration to private, while claiming that they would be re-enabled as soon as possible. I’d honestly be a bit shocked if Roblox and/or their sound effect partners tried to bring back narration in an alternative way, by making a “reactor core meltdown” spiel, for example.
Ironically this update doesn’t protect all audio creators, as those SFX that are still public can’t manually be set to the new private setting (in the rare event that a creator does not want others using his or her short sound effect).
Im still having issues with audios in my game. As Ive uploaded almost all audios in my game, someof them for OTHER people dont work. For instance, a gunshot sfx for a certain gun uploaded by me, wont be heard by a friend in the game, but will be heard by me… Am I the only person having this issue?
That’s not Roblox’s issue, that’s an issue with your coding, it pretty much means you’re playing the sound on your own client rather than every client, which is why your friend can’t hear it.
Its not that either, I know how to use ACS I actually made my own custom version of it. I dont think yall are understanding my issue but its alright thx for tryna help.
I find that I’m unable to remove audio permissions from a game after granting them, unless you count archiving as removing permissions. is this a bug?
Edit: I would like to add that what happens is that the remove button disappears after I grant a game permission when I click “save” on the configure page of an audio.
Nice to know that roblox really cares about their community by leaving us in radio silence nearly 2 months later. This is actually starting to get very irritating. Worst PR out of any company I’ve ever dealt with, at least other ones attempt to respond at some point.
When is this updating getting finalized, or actually skipped, multiple users have had problems trying to upload music they have permission to. It is annoying when we get the ok to use tracks, but the filter takes it down, even if we are allowed to use it. What was the point if everything just gets blocked, this makes it way harder than it needs to be.
A reply I posted above perfectly described the community’s disappointment towards the lack of communication, meanwhile they have been perfectly responsive to what seems to be extremely minor bug reports made by big developers.
However the reply to my reply also happens to potentially explain why they’re choosing to ignore our cries and decide to go work on what seems to be “less important work”, I’ll sum it up below
Unfortunately, as you may know, ROBLOX is a company, perhaps on the greedier side, so they’re absolutely taking money above community in recent years (my very plausible theory is that the old PR staff from early or mid-2010s ROBLOX were replaced with new PR staff with a “modern” and “futurist” mindset) - with this year not shedding good light on their PR at all. They have to absolutely make sure the top games still work properly however in order to keep the cash flow coming in, so they’re focusing mainly on the tiny little problems instead of the elephant in the room here. I still believe 2021 was the worst for their PR, though…
One main reason would be that the game creator feels that sound no longer fits the game it’s in, but I’m sure there are other reasons.
Even if there are no reasons, it’s still annoying that such an obvious option isn’t available.
There’s many reasons why the creator of an audio could want someone not using their audio anymore. Maybe a temporary agreement reached its end, maybe the uploader got scammed, etc. Who has rights to a song changes all the time in the music industry, and the lack of a removal button could present an issue to anyone who licenses their audio to multiple games at once.
Lets say that Bob uploads an audio he created, and he wants to charge games to use his audio. Three games purchase permission to use said audio, however, the creator of one of the three games scams Bob and doesn’t actually pay for the audio. Because it is impossible to remove permissions, Bob is left with a choice - either to allow the creator who scammed him to keep using his audio, or to archive and reupload his audio, requiring both other game creators to change their audio ids at every reference. Temporarily granting audio permissions is basically impossible because permissions cannot ever be revoked.
I would put in a feature request to add this, but I get a “You are not permitted to view the requested resource.” when I try to post it even though “new topic” isn’t greyed out for me
Edit: I don’t have permissions to post there. I don’t plan on applying for member, but if I were to I would post a feature request on there for this.
I saw two water related sound effects in the first two search result rows. The first result is literally just called “chaos”. I feel like the search filtering just gets worse every day. I can’t even find simple sounds like a crowd in a stadium! I’m over this update, but if we are going to have to deal with it figure out a way for us to PLEASE get the results we search for. A filter that excludes roblox made audio would also be pretty nice in some circumstances
STILL can’t make our audios public? WOW! It seems Roblox has attempted to cover up the mess by releasing events with music artists that nobody in their bright mind knows! Or at least most people don’t know.
It is nearing 2 months since nearly every existing audio was forced private with no way to undo. 100 upload limit is going to be hit very quickly if I have to painfully reupload any sort of sound effect I’ve used, and the total utter lack of updates is actually starting to get enraging. How has there not been ANY word since? I see other update topics with admin interaction, yet this one is conveniently walked over.
