Updates to Item Holding Periods [Marketplace]

And yet not a single person asked. It’s really just fabricating lies

nah bro are you guys being fr?

How is any competent trader supposed to do anything after this update?

I might as well liquidate my entire inventory at this point and switch to sniping only

Quit acting like a 2 day holding period will do anything when Roblox can’t even handle deleting copied items 3 weeks after their release.

don’t comment on things related to stuff you’ve obviously never been into. you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about

It’s pretty easy to see why they’re like this; they lost 60% of their value in September 2022 :skull:

Why do you so badly want to slap on the band-aid of another 30 years of holding time? Stop doing this. Please find another way to fix whatever scamming/phishing issues you’re staring at.

Came from a video, had to check if this was actually real. This just slows down trading altogether. Users with less RAP trade “smalls” to profit and a 2 day waiting period will abolish trading, which is what you want… right?

Haven’t posted a reply to this in a while as I had already said most my thoughts about this on the day this post was made but this will definitely not make Roblox support better in any way.

I recently asked support for a rollback and it took me 2 weeks to get a genuine reply to it, compromising accounts won’t get harder they will just have to wait 2 days before selling the items off after moving them to storage, and with the horrendous waiting times from support when requesting a rollback they will have more than enough time.

Also if the person who owns the account is fairly inactive what’s stopping the account compromiser from just selling off the items straight from that account? (nothing)

This affects the trading community so heavily and yet barely helps with security and safety of users and items. This change is nothing short of horrible, please Roblox listen for once and don’t go through with this feature which has clearly been barely thought out (if thought out at all), and is so damaging to the Roblox trading economy in it’s current state.

If the value of your item drops during a 48 hour holding period after you traded for it… you made a bad trade. That’s just the way it goes.

Realistically, an item would have a trend of decreasing in value or demand before that, so if you trade for the item it is entirely your own fault. Don’t blame the trade hold for your poor lack of judgement.

That’s extremely naïve of you to say, since I sold them. And if you hadn’t noticed, my inventory is now private.
What you can see on the Rolimons value graph, is that I did infact trade. Not having the items doesn’t change that.

That’s not a lot. Besides, look at the sales volume.

Mate, some items (especially event items) can lose thousands of :robux_gold: in just two days

Then you made a bad trade, period. If you know that event items can be unstable, that’s a risk that you are taking when trading for said items. That is entirely your own fault.

It’s a drop from 88k robux to 29k robux. If that’s not a lot, I hope you’re happy with donating 59k to me. I have a few gamepasses on my PLS DONATE stand if you’re willing to prove your point.

Well, that risk didn’t exist before this update, so guess what, nobody is going to try and flip event items after this

Which means that this update has rendered all the event item trading null and void, and you may as well just liquidate all your event items because nobody’s gonna buy something they don’t know the price of

Event items are typically only a couple hundred robux, I don’t think they’re worth crying over. Things change, and the important part is that you know for next time.

From my experience event items have always been a risk if buying them after the point that they turn limited, since they tend to stagnate.

You used that one item as an example… other items don’t appear to be following that trend. As I said previously, look at the sales volume- there is a clear decline in sales, and therefore presumably demand too.

I don’t think you deserve 60k, but the remark was humorous.

Do I not? What did I say that was wrong? Or do you personally just disagree?
I’ve traded with Roblox limiteds, CS:GO skins and with stocks, and although obviously not identical, each share similarities.

Trading is fast paced. People can profit hundreds of thousands of Robux within a month thanks to the current trading system. Removing that feature would make profiting painfully slow & close to impossible, especially for newer traders.

Also, items can suddenly turn bad and start going for lowballs, even if they were fine when you traded for them. Nothing is certain.

The trading system is completely fine as it is. A holding period won’t fix anything. This is just a way to get around the current horrible moderation system. I know a person that had his item removed 3 weeks after he had traded for it. (1.3 million rbx) Roblox support is painfully slow at times, a 2 day period won’t fix anything. They can take up to a month to fully restore your account… but I mean, they don’t in most cases.

Roblox is also proving its greediness with this change, as people will be more tempted to purchase Robux and waste hundreds/thousands of dollars on virtual items since there is no other way to acquire them anymore. The “one rollback policy” is extremely fraudulent. Some people are barely at fault for being compromised. There are things such as Social Engineering and methods that not even I am aware of. It’s mostly the platform’s fault.

is this based on 90% internal data and 10% community feedback? who asked for this?

i can understand 2FA with verification codes that change every 30 seconds, which is how i even log on to my account. perhaps, you can make it a default setting to email/text users after they go through with a trade with any large items/10%+ of their inventory asking to confirm it. but, 2 days holding, universally? this feels entirely out-of-touch.

man i just planned to start spending all my time on trading but now i won’t be able to do it, roblox ruined everything, it is not only about dropping items, trading is going to be so slow

no seriously why am i so unlucky, when i want to start trading roblox does something bad - i remember when they added 100 trades per day limit

^ Do not listen to a person who does not have a minimum knowledge of demand and went up the chart buying items with group funds.

2 days they are VERY harmful for trade, limiteds were created for you to basically be aware of the value of the limiteds every day, which years later appeared sites where more experienced players (and which vcers made more than 10M trading - and not buying), are together with the community every day debating the demand for much items and prevent exactly some scam happening in any trade.

well the trade limit prevented trade bots so it was sorta justified i guess, it doesn’t affect me personally but it can affect other people that mass send so i understand

If you want to add changes that trading community will love then add:

  • Ability to add comments to trades like on steam.
  • More slots or infinite slots in trades
  • Remove robux tax from trades.
