Use Underwater Fog As Default Fog For The Fog Property

I feel as though the underwater fog is better than the current fog system for the fog property simply because it’s in 360 degrees of the player instead of only on parts that are with in the player’s view.

I also think there should be some kind of property that allows developers to have the fog have a max and minimum opacity level, relative to the player’s position.

Overall, the terrain water fog is much more ideal for a fog effect.

I agree. This is something that has been bothering me for a while, and if I remember right, the new ‘Future is Bright’ lighting system that’s coming soon will fix that.

The water fog only “looks” more ideal because the skybox is set to the same color as the fog color.

With your proposed system, how would the default sky look when fog visibility’s set to be 100 studs away? 1000? 10000?

Perhaps this issue could be alleviated by overlaying the fog color onto the skybox at a certain transparency level, if what you say is true.

I thought the underwater fog was a sphere that surrounded the player.

Though I feel since it’s supposed to be foggy, you shouldn’t be able to see the skybox in the first place.
