Users can enjoy up to 25% more Robux on computer, web and gift cards

What about the Microsoft Store version of Roblox, will that version ALSO get this 25%?

Are we allowed to tell our mobile players that they can get more Robux through buying it through a computer or web browser?

I don’t think this answers the question at all? Unless the answer is “maybe one day”, but that doesn’t explain why that day isn’t today.

This announcement is basically a money printer for youtubers, lol

I think not, because the Robux stipend is not the entire benefit of Premium; some of that money is for the other features.

But, let’s not get too tangled up in technicalities.

In the end, to one extent or another, some more money is going to devs overall with this change.
I think we can celebrate this for now and go back to number crunching later.

is this because the app store takes such a massive % of income made on apps it’s just easier to get people to switch to pc?

Why even make all these features for mobile and neglect PC for so long

Normally:

$1 USD = 0.95 € (I think these values also constantly change)
or similar

But the pricing on the web is statically set by a fixed number.

No need to switch, web browser works just fine on mobile to purchase outside of those walled garden stores.

Basically a nice even 100 to 1 ratio, much easier to do the mental math when purchasing if you know every $1 is 100 robux.

it’s just how economics work. if a currency is worth more they would technically be paying less but it would translate to the same amount anywhere else

What do you have against moblie players?

I mean…

Edit: just realized, app store fees. Thanks for pointing it out @AdvancedOpenGL and @2jammers!

Not mobile players, they can get giftcards or use the website
app store fees

massive audience on mobile

I kinda meant that the app store/ play store would take 30% of all of roblox’s earnings from app store since it’s on their platform, so they’d prefer players to purchase things on PC where they’d lose less money from that

as much as i agree, what they’ve done here is effectively doing the same thing, sure the rate isn’t increased, but the quantity of money flowing through the eco-system is increased by 25%, thus increasing devex rates by roughly 25% (obviously this is a very rough way of putting it, and would also require devs to increase prices of all game passes/products)

That’s just not how economy works. If people are now able to have MORE robux for the same price, and developers are able to exchange it for the same rate as before, nobody’s making less robux lol. You can raise your prices to truly maximize this, but it’s not really needed. Now players who spend robux on your games have more robux to spend more in your game or other games. That’s a win for everybody

Not sure… guessing here… but could be that Gift Cards & Web… they bypass Apple & Google.
And with this… passing those savings onto the players. Again… guessing.

Idc my game doesnt have any gamepasses its equal for everyone lol

there is a 30% app store fee for virtual items, so Roblox is incentivizing that users can get more 25% more on the website since there is no fee there

They should figure out a way to let mobile users learn about this. Currently, the mobile version has no information regarding the increase available on the web version. This is because of the App-store “Anti-steering” rule that stops App developers from directing a user to a different place to pay for something. I wonder if some big game groups could put notes into their games and if it would be allowed.

I created a post on it:
Can Devs Participate in Purchase Steering on Mobile? (ROBLOX can’t) - Development Discussion - Developer Forum | Roblox
