We’re exploring how to best support video in the Creator Marketplace, but we don’t have concrete details to share yet.
The upload fee and fee structure may change in the future, especially as this feature evolves, and we will keep you updated on any future developments.
To clarify, we accept 4K video uploads, but our systems transcode the video to lower resolutions to ensure the best performance during playback. This is similar to how decal/image uploads support 8000x8000 but are downsized to 1024x1024 for their highest quality. The ideal video format is 1920x1080 at 60 fps.
Yes, we do have a copyright detection system. Please do not upload videos that you do not own as your video may be rejected and your upload fee will not be refunded.
We eventually want to expand support to videos of longer duration but do not currently have a timeline.
I’m sure that phone is enough though? To my knowledge VoIP doesn’t work and you can only verify once, so chances are if I have a phone number linked I won’t make another account just to upload bad videos.
I’m still staying away from verifying my ID for now, I don’t trust a 3rd party with my ID like that.
Will we be able to upload with alpha channels in the near future? This could unlock numerous possibilities, especially if we can gain the ability to change brightness and blend it
Also a reason why texture size matters regardless of monitor resolution is pixel density.
If you stretch a 1024x1024 image or video across a MASSIVE object (eg, a mountain) , it will look pixelated since the pixels will be large.
If you put it on a really small model (eg a sword) it will look higher res. But its also about how close your camera is to it. If your camera is really close to that sword, 1024x won’t cut it/
I feel that the 100k Robux wouldn’t benefit the company. I think we should pay our hard-earned taxes on this beta feature. Actually, I believe it should cost no more than half of the person’s salary.
All cool and all but I for one am not uploading my ID online, no matter what I do not trust things with that information.
last few years has been an eye opener for me in this regard, seems like digital id stuff is what is being pushed, and i want no part of it. I don’t care what it is…
disappointing as this would greatly help with one of my game ideas
2000 robux for a 30 second video is beyond bizarre and obnoxious. With that, there are also a few limitations that do bother me, such as: no webm. support (sure it’s a complicated file format but it would be nice) OR VideoColor3 (similar to ImageColor3). If I had VideoColor3, I could colour it based on what colour the user is assigned. That feature doesn’t exist. I’m sure it’s not complicated to that at least. Either way, I have waited for this update for years and honestly, I’m quite disappointed. Though, I’m still hoping for a change and some improvements, and I won’t be too harsh since this is still in Beta. Roblox, do consider these suggestions please before you release Videos fully.
That’s a pretty good workaround, I must admit I haven’t thought about it. Still would be nice to have VideoColor3 but you definitely spawned an idea for me so thanks!
ROBLOX, I don’t think it would be helpful putting the price to 2000 robux just to upload a 30 second video, make it free and ID Free, and INCREASE the time, No one is gonna upload a video for 2000 robux for 30 seconds
