Running on Arch Linux / Derivates ( EndeavourOS for desktop ), The flatpak works flawlessly, and I must say, I’m amused by the performance boost it gives me confronted to Windows, however, is quite limited, as I can’t seem to get the Roblox Studio vinegar pkg working on neither Arch or (in a VM) Linux Mint.
Besides that, what are the plans on that package once the official Byfron update comes out? Is the Flatpak still going to be supported or?

(EDIT) On a side note, are you also planning to port support for those as official pacman/aur (or .deb for debian [ubuntu included] people) so that it can be runned using Steam’s Proton?

Attempted to use Roblox Studio on Kubuntu 22.04, got this error.

in logs I see

2023/10/13 13:09:17 vinegar.go:129: download package StudioFonts.zip: Get "https://setup.rbxcdn.com/version-32301f72dce64d3d-StudioFonts.zip": stream error: stream ID 73; INTERNAL_ERROR; received from peer

Retry, sometimes Roblox CDNs have a stroke.

I’ll update the Flatpak shortly which should get your Studio working.

Byfron is already out.

We have an official AUR, but it requires custom Wine to function since there is a necessary patch.

Trying to search within the AUR, I found vinegar and vinegar-git, which would be the preferable choice, eventually?

Git is the live stream.
Would not reccomend unless you are having troubles that have been fixed in the Github and haven’t been released in a full release yet.

Go for vinegar not git unless you need to!

this is nice! i’ve tested it with some games and it runs pretty well!

some days ago i have switched from windows to linux so the first problem i saw was those compatibility errors with roblox and some other apps i had

i’m on zorin os; roblox player runs well, but regarding roblox studio…

a message appears saying webview2 is missing, with a blue button that sends me to a login account confirmation page, which tries to redirect me to studio again, but doesn’t work

i tried installing webview2 from microsoft’s page but again, didn’t work

is this a problem with the system i’m using?

You’ll need to launch player and play a game before using Studio. WebView does not function properly at the moment.

oh now i see why it wasnt working
i was deleting and reinstalling vinegar’s folders to reinstall it again and try running studio, but i was deleting roblox player’s cache too

but thx it worked

hey, sorry for being inconvenient again

opening a local files doesn’t seem to show files, only folders and directories

probably it’s not a vinegar problem, i think it’s from wine, ill try searching it for a fix

There isn’t really a fix for that, being a windows app emulated with Wine, Wine attempts to emulate a windows file manager, but it can’t open Nemo (for cinnamon), Nautilus ( your file manager since you’re running Zorin OS (Assuming its 16.3 version) and you’re still using GNOME 4)

Adding up on the new update where supposedly Roblox Studio should work, ran flatpak update, it successfully updated the Vinegar flatpak, but running roblox still gives issues, such as studio not opening at all, and instead giving a sneaky error, therefore forcing me to shut it down from htop.
Noticing other users with Ubuntu/Debian based distros, I thought it’s an issue regarding only Arch & derivates, maybe even other not-so known distros, like Alpine and NixOS.

If you are using Flatpak, use flatseal to permit access to your home directory. Home directory sandboxing is a default feature on flatpak.

yeah, firstly i was assuming it was something with the os im using, as i saw no problem in other reviews

thx bro, that was the fix for me, vinegar didn’t have permission to acess all directories from the system

for users with the same problem as me: (in flatseal) vinegar → filesystem → allow all system files

Just be aware that this effectively defeats sandboxing

I first tried using this a while ago with Bodhi linux, but failed to get it working. It’s now working great on Xubuntu  goodbye Windows! (Studio has a weird looking font and some graphical glitches when moving windows, and takes a bit longer to test, but still works!)

Seems to be a rendering bug, anyone know a solution?
I’m running a modern Iris Xe integrated graphics solution, it supports all modern APIs.
