Voice Chat (VoiceChatService) is Coming to Consoles

Hi Creators,

We’re excited to announce that, starting today, we are rolling out Voice Chat on PlayStation and will bring it to Xbox consoles in the coming months!

This update expands communication capabilities via Experience Chat, allowing players to connect seamlessly without the need to type, and delivers on our commitment to provide you with tools and updates that enable a consistent experience across all devices. Voice Chat also offers you great opportunities to foster immersive communication, imagine new types of experiences, and boost engagement with players.

Enabling VoiceChatService

If you are already using VoiceChatService, then Voice Chat just works on consoles once players enable it, and they can start communicating with others across devices, providing a more unified user experience. If your experience does not currently use Voice Chat functionalities, now is a great time to consider enabling it. Find more details on VoiceChatService here.

Our Commitment to Safety

Voice Chat has different safety guardrails built into it to prevent unintended use and malicious activities, including Voice Chat recordings for moderation and safety purposes. Players can also submit abuse reports or block another user to prevent them from chatting with them in an experience.

We also offer a variety of parental controls to parents and caregivers to help manage their child’s experience on the platform, including Experience Chat. For more information on parental controls, you can learn more here.

Finally, players can always disable Voice Chat and mute/unmute themselves when or if needed.

What’s Next

VoiceChatService is now live on PlayStation and we’re already working to bring it to Xbox players soon. This is part of our commitment to deliver cross-platform tools and features that let you focus on what matters most: creating engaging experiences. We can’t wait to see what you build next!

Please share your thoughts and any feedback you may have below to help us continue improving the tools and capabilities available to you.

Thank you.

I love VoiceChatService, I want to use it for my experiences but im unable to due to the player limit that is on placed VoiceChatService as well as the very high performance overhead on the server and clients. My experience is going to be immersive and is planning to have huge servers 200+ players. If VoiceChatService expands its limit and is further optimized it would be great for high capacity immersive experiences including mine.

This is inaccurate now, anyone responsible with the roblox help page should update it accordingly in the near future

When will we be able to access joining servers on the games page to consoles? Seeing servers and joining private servers is quite difficult.

i think its more getting the actual engine to function with both switch & 2s hardware let alone being able to use byfron on a system like that. Also switch 1 specs are so limited mobile devices from 3 years ago are going to perform better than a switch

Xbox had voice chat in 2016 before it even got released for every device it was a toggle voice chat button I remember it but I think it remove a while after voice chat really got relase

are we deadass bringing Pokémon: Brick Bronze as an argument (which was created like 5-8 years ago) :broken_heart::wilted_flower:
let it go gng

besides that i think the main reason why we wont have it is how low in performance Nintendo Switch is compared to modern smartphones. its NOT about copyright and such
