What are you attempting to achieve?
This area is a spawn. The main character spawns in the center grey circle and the 2 members of a group the main user creates spawns on either side. The character can’t move but it’s a nice display screen. The main UI is then on the right side. This is a warehouse that was stolen by criminals and made into a hideout, it is supposed to look run down.
What is the issue?
I won’t call it an “issue” but I have to answer it. I am looking for feedback on more ways to makethe warehouse realistic. I would also like to achieve a more “run down” look since it was taken over by criminals.
What solutions have you tried so far?
I tried many suggestions users gave on my previous post. I made the sides of the crates slopes, I gave it a darker color to bring more attention, I then added markings for the crates to go in and also added markings where people would walk and vehicles would drive. I added support beams on the roof along with fake lights. Shadow map was added along with a fake window and a door to the right.
I take all feedback very well and add most feedback in! Thanks for reading!
The build itself is obviously not bad. Since your going for a more realistic approach have you tried using textures or messing with the Brightness, and ColorShift_Top, in the lighting tab?
It is pretty nice looking, I can sort of still it’s a warehouse you should try including different objects instead of crates like wooden stands with boxes and different objects placed around the flooring I would really pay attention to the lighting because right now the lighting looks dull, I’d try playing around with the lighting to get that realistic look as possible, the lighting step towards this.
I would perhaps switch up some of the crate colors? Crates in a warehouse aren’t identical - similar, so try throwing grey colors on some of them including silver. The red is nice, but it’s an unnatural brick red color, I would head for something more subdued. Add ceiling lights this could be achieved with using (beams) something you’ll see in a warehouse.
Adding things like pallets on the ground with some boxes on it and try placing some pallet wrap film on it so the boxes won’t fall all over the floor part I genuinely think you should consider adding that. Since your going for a run down look having shattered window pieces or rusty objects with vines or vegetation on the walls and coming through the windows?
Overall, it’s good i’d just work on the layout and placements of everything!
Thanks for that great suggestion! I 100% agree with the pallets and also boxes. Would you suggest using like moss textures on the walls to make it more run down?
I’ll also start adding these in tommorow morning:D
That would depend i normally see buildings that are going for a (run down look - feel) it would be a best approach using a dirt kind of texture which would have a run down atmosphere and context, a moss texture would be good if it was placed on the flooring or see if it looks good on the walls allow vines to grow up the walls and around pipes.
Whatever suits your liking i think a dirt texture would improve the overall look. By doing that, you can think or summarise that on how it’ll look on your build just don’t overdo the textures so it doesn’t ruin the design. You can also have too textures on the walls and see how it looks?
Just some things I noticed while looking at the image:
To the left of the leftmost character model on the ground, is that an underground crate clipping the ground? I can’t tell.
The catwalk(?) area on the back wall looks like it’s not supported. Maybe for extra detail you could add supports above or below the area.
The lights on the ceiling could be lowered off the ceiling as if they were suspended by some sort of metal supports, and the beams along the ceiling could be thicker.
The tipped over blue crate looks like its clipping the yellow one in the background but that might just be the angle.
Personally I would use a brick since your lights are not rounded.
In my own case, I would probably put one on each end of the light and add 2 more crossing between them making an X pattern if you get what I’m trying to say.
Also not sure if you knew this but if you have 2 bricks with the same color and texture that kinda overlap, creating a glitchy texture effect when you move your camera, joining those parts with a Union will remove the glitchy texture effect. Just a little builder life hack.
Also also in the case of the beams, you could select them all in the workspace and go into the properties and change whichever value is their width in the size. This will resize all of them individually instead of scaling them as a unit.
