Happy new year, Creators! What did everyone play over the holidays?! Let us know in the comments
Our first recap of 2025 is short and sweet - but have no fear, we’ve got some exciting things coming your way this year.
Remember - we keep information at a high level within these recaps. For more information or to leave feedback, please comment on their official announcements linked below.
[UPDATE]: In addition to requiring Windows users to use Windows 10 or higher to use Roblox Studio, we’re also increasing the requirement for Mac users to use OS 10.14 instead of 10.13. This change will go into effect on March 20, 2025.
Will this also include input that looks automated, for example auto clickers used by normal users? If so I think developers should be given both the tools and the choice to get rid of these players instead of Roblox taking automated action in our behalf.
It’s more likely focusing on checking IP address and how “human” your inputs is, kind of like what reCAPTCHA does. That’s what I think personally, I highly doubt it will simply ban you because of macro, hopefully…
It’s corpospeak that covers everything yet says nothing. They could’ve just said “We will be cracking down on exploiting and botting” but that would imply they’re actually going to put in effort to address these issues.
Last time the phrasing they used was “cheating and exploiting are not welcome on our platform”. Considering the problem is bigger now than it was then it seems like they were all talk and little action. Lets see 6 months from now how well these ‘three initiatives’ do in tackling the issue.
Personally, I mostly played my own game, cos I’ve been working on it 2 years, built it in a way that was fun for me to play, and this year it finally became somewhat successful. I also like seeing what others enjoy about it, and it gives me insights to what I could improve.
There’s been some pretty cool updates last year. Unfortunately, there’s also been some downgrades - for me, most notably the sunsetting of User-Ads. They’ve always been a huge part of Roblox to me. I know sometimes they could appear tacky, but they really did give the website character. The website felt more free, wasn’t always white / grey bland - especially before they introduced this new ‘clean’ theme. The website as a whole felt a bit like a scrapbook. It was a mess, yet it was still much easier to navigate and find games more suited to you back then. The re-introduction of genres and introduction of subgenres is great, but still lacking compared to how it was. Why can’t we just simply click a genre / subgenre and see all games in that genre listed in order of CCU? We must instead go into “Charts”, scroll down to find the desired genre, and even then we’re only shown the top 10%.
I know I’ve got nostalgia goggles right now, but I don’t understand why they’d deliberately make it more difficult to find a game I’d enjoy. Just reminiscing of simpler times I shuppose.
