What are you working on currently? (2020)

I’m making a class based game, kind of like TF2. Here is some small cuts of gameplay from my favorite class also known as the bomber.

Looks awesome! Any chance to get into early testing? Would love to check it out in game

Nice! I was waiting for someone to make a more cartoony styled thing after I released my post. Hoping these unlocked doors allow for naval/sea based games to make a big return

Funny I was actually just going to experiment with Flowfields after seeing a unity video on it , is it only viable for 2D you think? Most examples I’ve seen are in two dimensions since it’s typically used for RTS games but I’d be curious to see practical 3D examples too - if it’s not too slow.

How fast is recalculating the heatmap when the goal changes?

Looking at different transportation methods for a slide, this method uses bezier curves but seems a bit too complex for its purpose.

I hope so, too! Now I just need custom terrain textures so I can actually have terrain match the rest of my game >:(

Flowfields would probably work fine in 3D, you’d just need a heightmap so that units can lookup what height they should be at. (Planet Coaster uses flowfields in 3D and has a good article that explains exactly what they did)

for my use case, recalculating the flowfield is pretty fast because the space I’m using it on is pretty small, flowfields would probably be too slow to be viable for larger spaces.

For larger spaces you could just separate the map into several flowfields and have the flowfields not in the goal chunk point toward the one which is

Currently, there isn’t much to test, as much of the game is reliant on Golubian making his combat system and such. However, if you want I can update you on the progress of the game.

I’m making an aesthetic and challenging Obby, I’m kinda sick of all the basic looking easy ones.
