What are you working on currently? (2023)

Really loving these photos! If it’s not too much to ask, is this ship modelled from somewhere and if so what is it called?

I would do it using a half circle to cover part of another half circle then once it gets to the halfway point flip the covering half circle and its colors:

That is really clever! :scream: Keep the great (and smart) work up!

My team lead commissioned someone to mode the ship loosely based on the Pirates of the Caribbean movies’ adaptation of the Black Pearl :slightly_smiling_face:

Finally Announcing what I am working on (give feedback, rate it, and give ideas! - #2 by eeveelinknugget In this post I say what I am working on this year (Probably the only project I have time to do this year due to how much effort I am putting)

Hello fellow developers,

I wanted to provide an update on my ongoing project centered around a First World War game in Roblox. Although it has been a challenging endeavor due to my scripting skills, I have made significant progress over the past few months, with a brief hiatus that lasted until last week.

One of the major milestones I achieved was successfully implementing functional gas masks for both factions. It took considerable effort and assistance from others, but I eventually managed to get them working as intended. However, I decided to remove the gas element from the game as it was merely lingering up and down the map. Currently, I’m actively exploring methods to enable players to fire gas shells via artillery, as this would add an immersive layer to the gameplay.

In terms of content, I have estimated that upon completion, players will have access to approximately 3 kilometers of meticulously detailed trenches to explore. However, please note that there is still much work to be done. My plan includes incorporating essential features such as a main menu, shop functionality, and a “choose class” graphical user interface. At this stage, I would estimate the game’s completion to be around 40%.

I am open to constructive feedback and would greatly appreciate your thoughts on the progress made thus far. Your input will undoubtedly contribute to the refinement and enhancement of the overall gaming experience.

Thank you for your attention, and I eagerly await your valuable insights.

Best regards,
UberQuest

Basically, four half circles that cover each other at the right timing to allow for the rotated part to hide under the occluding side. @BendsSpace shows this really well:

After talking sharing my solution with some people (credit to Elttob and EmeraldSlash for being geniuses), I was informed of a even better solution that uses 0 image labels & works with a transparent background:

Make a circle using a UICorner with full corners, then put that in a frame with ClipsDescendents such that you now have two halves. Now, instead of rotating the halves (which doesn’t work with ClipsDescendents), we create a UIGradient with transparency such that position 0.499 has 0 transparency, and 0.500 has 1 transparency, hiding half of it. We can then ROTATE this UIGraident, causing the same effect. This solution has the bonus of allowing a transparent background, and scaling better to larger screens, and doesn’t require any images or rotation (which can cause weird pixel artifacts).

Looks great, one thing I would change is the sandbags. They are just a decal slapped on a square, and that makes it look really bad.

Thank you. I chose to do that to improve performance, rather than using a mesh for every sandbag. Plus, as a texture, it can be resized without stretching, makes for much quicker building. I also believe it matches the aesthetic.

I don’t have any plugins to make roads, I do them naturally, but always taking care of the measurements so that they don’t come out deformed, that’s all

i made a knife

i tried to copy the original design as closely as possible to the original which was extremely difficult since i had to guess literally 99% of the dimensions

and im not exaggerating, these were the only measurements that the website provided

Continuing work on my modernized classic Roblox pvp game. Trying to get classic animations to work FOR ALL PLAYERS is a headache, unfortunately.

Extremely happy with how the logo came out though. I was going to make a nice modern logo in Blender but decided to keep the original crappy feel of 2007 Roblox games. I think I got the innocence just right. Look how happy they are

Here is the game if you want to look at it.
