Windows 11 Freezes in Studio

I even tried uninstalling and installing studio, I don’t have it anymore…
Maybe try updating drivers, that was certainly a factor of how it fixed itself for me.

Edit: You can go to your ‘bios’. It is usually something to do with graphical drivers.

wut, going to bios wont help at all

open ‘Event Viewer’ > Application, and look for errors

I have the exactly same problem with the windows 11 24H2 update, I tried everything but nothing worked unless going back to the windows 11 23H2 update.

Maybe try changing some settings? idk lol

I think I had something similar when I was in studio but in my case my entire screen went black before returning, then when I opened task manager I saw Roblox Studio taking all of my ram, maybe same thing happened to you?

This is not how Windows works nor will it ever work this way unless Microsoft steps their game up to truly maximize performance and usability in their OS, which hasn’t happened in a long, long time.

You have an RTX 4050 along with Intel Integrated graphics. Your Studio Runtime Info says that the GPU that’s being used for Studio is the integrated one. You should try to use the Nvidia Control Panel to forcefully open Roblox with your dedicated graphics card rather than your integrated one and see if the problem persists.

I cannot change my settings, because my OS freezes and it stops responding to mouse input

I also have an RTX 4080. Studio would constantly close after 30 seconds.

I’m on 24H2 and this isn’t an issue for me. Same Studio version as OP.

That is actually a fair point, I didn’t think that through.

exact same thing started happening to me about 2 months ago. Don’t worry bro you’re not alone on this one, entire screen freezes, cant move mouse, cant even open task manager. Gotta force shutdown.

event viewer is separate from studio

Update: It hasn’t happened on my old Windows 10 computer

There’s some good advice in this thread on updating drivers - generally when you see a lockout like this its at the HW/kernel/driver level. Studio hanging will hang the process, not the OS. Because of the nature of the issue we may not get anything but the next time it occurs please up load the latest log after restarting.

Also, what’s the frequency of “sometimes” - is there anything specific you can recall happening before the freeze? Has the place opened? Are you on the starting page? If Studio does open correctly, does it freeze sometime later, or is it something where once its open it works fine?

It happens in any place in editing mode, Studio does open correctly but freezes the entire OS randomly when editing a place, The OS freezes because I cannot move the mouse, and hence I cannot access Task Manager.

As I already said I have the same issue with the Windows 24H2 update, but if I remember it correctly, when I started to record the issue with the NVIDA recording tool, it somehow stopped until I stopped to record. But that also stopped working after some time, so I reinstalled the Windows 23H2 update, where everything works correctly. It might be a me problem, but it might also be a NVIDIA issue, as this is not the only issue I got with NVIDIA apps.

Roblox needs to optimise Studio for Windows 11 Home 24H2 hardware as it just recently froze again

Don’t see it mentioned here, but others with 24H2 have seen this go away with changing an optimization setting introduced in 24H2

I tried that too, it also did not change anything
