Workclock Headphones Mesh

FYI, I don’t agree with anyone in this thread attacking the OP of this post. If there’s anything to be upset at, it is Roblox’s policies that allow for their legacy items to be updated years after their original release.

I’m not going to claim that I speak for everyone, but I’d like Roblox to reconsider their policies regarding making updates to the appearance of their classic avatar items, especially items like these that are super iconic and well known. Many of Roblox’s legacy items have broken normals and other technical quirks that give them a particular look that sets them apart from anything Roblox or anyone else has made in recent years. I think that updating these items to remove these quirks, or otherwise changing their appearance is unfair to the people who purchased these items when they came out many years ago or in any of their subsequent rereleases.

In my opinion, Roblox should only be making changes to these items when it is to restore their original appearance in the case of the item changing due to a bug or technical change Roblox makes. A great example of this is the transparency of the classic “Pirate Captain’s Hat,” which originally had a transparent feather when it originally released in 2007, but the transparency effect broke as a result of changes Roblox made over the years (I’ve included a link to a bug report thread for this accessory and other affected items here).

EDIT: Another user later in this thread added some historical context that shows that in this instance, this update actually restored the original appearance of this item. I definitely think it was a nice update in this instance, but I’d definitely like to see Roblox set a more concrete policy going forward to only update items to either restore the original appearance or to fix technical issues / bugs that pop up with an item over time, only out of concern that they might not be taking these things into consideration in every case.

Basically what they did to these headphones is the equivalent of if they were to go and remove the classic shading from the banded top hat series. Change my mind.

Hello, I strongly believe it would be worth exploring the ability to request refunds for items that have had their appearance changed after you’ve purchased them. As an older member of the community, this item no longer aligns with my interests following this unexpected change.

This is incredibly accurate,

Roblox needs a policy that allows old classic items to be protected, this program is being used just for the sake of fixing anything people can find now.

shhhhh dont give them anymore ideas

this is something that should be taken with caution a lot of classic items like this have their charm come from small faults in the item, you can not convince me that the band on the headphones does not look more bland now after this change and it makes the item itself look worse

Thats exactly the point: it had no flaws. People bought it for what it used to look like originally. Nobody was complaining about it but they still wanted to change it anyways. People who complain about the change are in the right.

As someone has previously said in here, we should be using the forum for actual issues with items, not miniscule details that don’t need fixing. I feel like everyone who owns this item didn’t have an issue with the mesh that it had before. Please revert this change.

You’re complaining that they fixed a fault in the item that was not intended in the first place to make the item look better. Everybody has their preferences, I guess, but of course, just as people can complain about it not having the “flaw,” people can also complain about it having a “flaw,” as seen here. You can’t satisfy everyone, but the mark on the item was obviously unintentional.

Adding onto this, the item is now offcentered. A good way to demonstrate this is by wearing them with the original Clockwork Headphones, which hasn’t been updated. They used to have the exact same mesh and placement, but due to them slapping the Workclock texture on the Gold Clockwork Headphones mesh (which has the same centering issue) it now clips outside. They didn’t even bother fixing the black lines issue.

I feel like updating only Workclock and not the original is such a weird choice, but hopefully it’s reverted or at the very least fixed. They did such an awesome hat incredibly dirty.

I understand but the point is that most owners were fine with it’s original look. The item exists for more than a decade and everyone who bought it liked the original look, why change it?

^ agreed i find it annoying how actual items with faults that deserve fixing and have replies supporting the change showing people actually want it fixed are left unfixed and yet this request where there was next to no replies on it prior to the change is listened to.

Oh I never heard about this, I just thought they fixed the bump they talked about in the post. If they swapped the whole mesh, I would be asking for a refund too. You guys are right but OP isn’t really at fault for that, he only tried to get the slight imperfection in the original mesh fixed.

I don’t agree with people attacking the OP, but i understand why people are upset with them because if this post was never made they wouldn’t update it in the first place.
Especially considering it wasn’t a real issue.

I love the fact we can request fixes for accessory flaws here but I feel there needs to be some kind of community sentiment taken into account with these. I understand the staff behind this won’t be the most in touch with the community and to them this will just look like an obvious bug and for that reason I feel there should some sort of positive sentiment on the post whether it be positive comments or likes to show that it is a change the community will at least probably respect.

This was a pointless change. Completely ruined the item! Please fix it!

This was a very cheap “fix” by using a mesh that already existed yet was noticeably different than the original. They could’ve very much ignored the bug report if they didn’t want to take the time to edit the original mesh and fix the imperfections.

Not to mention, doing this right after bringing it back for a “fear of missing out” (for lack of a better term) “sale” is a scam.

I don’t know how it’s even possible to be this out of touch.

I don’t see how this looks like a UGC ripoff now?

Is roblox able to update the icon to match the icon to what it used to be to match its several dozen versions ? especially saying the entire mesh was changed
