Wrong Search Results in Toolbox

I was using the toolbox to try and find a placeholder image, so I searched for “gift emoji” and got some strange results:

It doesn’t happen when you search for just “gift” (which returns relevant mostly relevant results) but sometimes will with other word variations of the same query (e.g. “gift log” or “gifter”)

Screenshots

@aaron_mccoy realized that “gift” in German translates to venom/poison! So it seems to be translating my search query automatically, resulting in irrelevant results.

Expected behavior

Normally, when using the search functionality, I don’t expect it to be perfect, but normally the results are relevant for the most part & not completely unrelated to the search query. If there are no results for my query, it shouldn’t display any results. If my system language is English, it shouldn’t automatically translate my search query to another language.

Searching anything with pickaxe in it and having more then 1 word gives results about cars for some reason as far as I can tell, but the other words included will describe what car images you get.

I’m confident this is because the asset has similar instance names, or it has a similar description. Roblox is powerful enough to do this now. Also, I suggest you search better or more specific instances if you want the certain items you want to pop up to pop up. If you can not find the results you would like to find, you can also use icon packs, plugins, etc. There is many different resources for you to use, so in conclusion, this is not a bug.

This is because in the dictionary, the word “car” has similar synonyms to pickaxes, or synonyms that have similar synonyms that are similar to pickaxes, and so on. There is millions of words which can connect.

This is just an acknowledgment announcement!

We’ve filed a ticket to our internal database, and we’ll follow up when we have an update!

Thanks for the report!

BIG BUMP (Sorry). [ROBLOX TOOLBOX SEARCH SHOWING UNRELATED RESULTS]

Can not find almost ANYTHING, especially with audio. Roblox toolbox search used to work fine when it searched up for names of things that actually included the string you typed in. It doesn’t matter what you search or what asset type you are looking for anymore. It always comes up with completely random, and unrelated results, out of hundreds of things that show up, maybe 3 - 5 are relevant to what I searched.

To sum it up, this is happening in all search categories no matter what I search up. The studio toolbox search needs a DRASTIC overhaul, and the inclusion of features such as search by most recent, and a way to do an exact search (Similar to how Google does when you search something in quotes.) Please fix this as it is EXTREMELY frustrating. Why did Roblox change the toolbox search? It used to work fine and actually show what you typed in. Please fix this…

Posted below is a picture of me searching not overly specific in the audio section. Items in the red boxes have no apparent connection to my search query.

Here is another example.

Seriously Roblox? Can’t you do better than this? This is ABYSMAL. What is “Baby Patrick Meme” doing in a search for a car horn???

Please give us the ability to search for exact results, similar to how Google does when you put it in quotes. Also please add the ability to search for the most recent, up to date assets in each category. Those are two extremely basic and yet fundamental features of any search engine. There is no reason Roblox doesn’t have it by default.

Are there any updates on this? This is still an ongoing issue with pretty much every toolbox section.
