It is up the developer to find a way to make their game loop tie in with how to get the egg. An example was Sharkbite in 2020 egg hunt. You had to get right behind the shark to get a key, so that directly enhanced gameplay dynamics as people risked getting near the shark, completing the game loop.
This is true, however, Roblox still chooses games with smaller to no communities possibly out of desperation for content - apply apply apply!
If the egg reward is tied to completing part of the game loop, the player has to care about how to play the game, otherwise they will not get the reward. Whether they like the game loop or not is irrelevant, it’s not the dev’s problem that someone doesn’t like their game.
While I see, understand, and acknowledge why this is happening, I can’t say I’m pleased with it. At least have the games stick to a theme. I don’t want to have to play Royal High again just to get an egg.
There’s not many popular Egg Hunt themed games on the platform though, if at all.
I just feel as though the Dev Hunt “tradition” is just getting worse and worse year after year. It’s gotten really bland and the lack of a hub this year along with ACTUAL Egg Hunt themed games really ticked me off.
It kind of scares me that Egg Hunt is in quotation marks in this topic’s title. (What’s next, putting us all on a baseplate and calling it that?)
Welcome to the DevHunt. In all seriousness, they need to go back 3 years ago and see how good the '18 egg hunt was. That was a quality game. Most of the non-enjoyable games from the '19 egg hunt [didn’t participate in this years as I took a break] are now dead and some of the high quality games such as Robot 64 has struggled to get over 700 players now.
I appreciate Roblox trying to make “Dev Hunts” where developers get their game exposed and popular, but I really just want something like the awesome 2018 egg hunt, which in my opinion was the best of all.
I think Roblox is kind of getting lazy with these events, as last year they didn’t even have a lobby. I just hope they make a lobby this time.
My game would be perfect for this. There is a stage called the Egg hunt museum in my game. Probably will not be done till time. Cant wait to see the other games!
I like egg hunt’s but you should not leave it on devs to make their tasks for getting the egg. Bcoz some of them make it pay to win. Like get egg by buying this gamepass or something like that. You should ask them not to do these stuff they ruin the whole egg hunt
You could definitely see Roblox tried to fix some of the previous problems in EH2019 with unsuspecting ones in EH2020.
I am planning on making a supportive post on how Roblox could make EH2021 more exciting as the RB Battles and RPT events were, but we cannot really take all our promises because of one EH transition to another.
Sorry if that was confusing lol, my head is just having a rough time outputing.
Sigh, I was using the upcoming 2021 Egg Hunt as motivation to finish and advertise a game by then, but I’ve been too busy and now I guess I’m to late. Another sigh. Maybe next year… Maybe next year.
I’d still like to point out how Roblox’s Egg Hunts are a great motivation to create a game worth playing and possibly get its very own item and players who will play your game to get the item, in which a few might like your game and want to play again another time.
The Egg Hunt is an anual and scheduled event, so people will know the deadline for when their game needs to be finished and advertised, unlike events like Ready Player Two that came out of nowhere.
However, a flaw is how low quality some developers make their assigned egg. In most cases, the Egg Hunt is just a grab and go event where developers spend very little time on their game, and just because people want some egg hat, their game is on the front page within minutes, or at the very least doubling in popularity.
This is causing the Egg Hunt to lose its charm. I have a friend who claims he got all of the eggs within three days. This event should be more challenging than “Find the egg somewhere around the map”. I was surprised at how high quality and challenging the Ready Player Two event was. I’m not saying developers should make the Egg Hunt so-difficult-you-have-to-look-it-up hard, just harder than… Three days.
Even with all its flaws, I think the Egg Hunt still gets better every year, and I think this one will still be the best one yet! Good job developers!
