Archived Roblox Messages Disappear

I recently received a right of erasure request from roblox, and accidentally pressed the archive button on the message. Usually this just puts the messaged under the ‘Archive’ tab, however it has disappeared from both my messages and the archive tab. Luckily I have noted down the user id, but if I had not I would have no way of knowing what the ID was and would not be able to fulfill the right of erasure request.

I literally did exact same thing, I took a screenshot of the message but now its gone

Same problem. I just archived a set of GDPR request, thinking I’d do them later in one go. Now they have all disappeared along with the user ids…

Nope. If you archive an automatic message it’s gone forever. If you want to know what is said you can probably find a copy online.

No, you can’t always. Not when the content is specific to that message, such as a GDPR request. You can find the format back, sure, but that’s useless because it’s about the specific data in that message (in case of GDPR, it lists a UserId of the user to perform the GDPR request for).

Was it always like this? I seem to remember archived messages from ROBLOX being saved, back then anyway, but now they just disappear. It’s strange that ROBLOX would add something like this on purpose; maybe the amount of ‘### accepted your friend request!’ messages were causing server strain, or something.

I think that it’s a change that was made within the past year. I opened up my archived messages and found some automatic messages in it that dated from February this year. Not sure though.

I get the impression that it’s just an intended feature at this point considering we haven’t heard a word on it in literally over 4 years, almost 5, with no change in sight.

I am bumping this bug report again, because, as some people said, I got myself into the case where I accidentally archived the message of a data erasure request, but unluckily, I haven’t noted the UserId I should have deleted. If there is no way I can recover the message, then there is no way I can delete the data associated to that UserId, if it has any. If it’s intentional, then important messages like these should be archived instead.

This happened to me a while ago and I was thinking about it today, I got invited to voice chat early and I wanted to save it but it just deleted the message. I tested it today by archiving an unimportant message and it got deleted I hope roblox fixes this soon.

Is this being fixed? I would like to not have to make a .txt file compiling all of the messages, as that would take time that I would rather use doing something else.

I would like to be able to use the “Archive” feature on ROBLOX’s website to prevent these messages from being erased completely.

I’ve only used it once (I think by accident, since the only message I archived was a scam message) because quite frankly the archive feature just seemed useless to me and I’m sure 90% of the platform doesn’t use it either, but if this bug could be fixed so the feature works as intended then I would like to archive all of my system messages from 2014 to 2019.

I have system messages that say that people like Shedletsky, Bereghost and other notable users on the platform had accepted my friend requests at the time before the Followers update was introduced in 2015. A lot of these messages show who accepted my friend requests (apparently I sent a lot of them back then), invited me to Team Create, and even special event messages for earning all the prizes.

I don’t want to lose these messages, as they’re pieces of the time I’ve spent on the platform that I’ve long forgotten about. It’s a part of my history, so I think it’s very important that this bug is fixed if possible.

Is anything going to be done about this? There’s only 9 more days until this change goes into effect.

There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be able to archive these system messages. If for whatever reason they need to be cleared to begin with, we should atleast have the option to archive them just like with any other message.

I’d really hate to lose them if there’s something that can be done about it.

This is still the case. System messages that are archived are not shown in the Archived tab with no explanation or confirmation.

They aren’t actually deleted so it is actually possible to view their contents and unarchive them with the API, they just aren’t shown in the tab.

Still broken. I just archived a bunch of messages I wanted to save, and now I can’t view them in the tab at all.

I had a bunch of “Right to erasure” messages that i archived on accident when archiving all messages. I CAN’T find it, I CAN’T fulfill the right to erasure request, I DON’T have the user id.
