[BETA] Revamped Asset Manager

You can do something similar with multicursor in the script editor + this new Asset Manager!

  1. Select multiple assets with shift click or command click
  2. Right-click and select “Copy Asset Ids”. This should copy a table to your clipboard that looks like: [123,456,789]
  3. Paste in your script and use multicursor (I use cmd+D) to put a cursor before every ID and add the necessary formatting.

It is a pain currently to also carry the asset name over since that isn’t copied right now, we’ll take that feedback into account!

Our team is aware of this issue; currently there’s no link between it and the new Asset Manager release. Do let us know if you notice anything otherwise (for example, if disabling the Asset Manager beta fixes the issue), but otherwise, sit tight as we’re working on fixing that issues ASAP

Thanks for the details! Yes, correct, toolbox will continue to exist - will likely get a new name like “Store” once inventory related tabs are removed. TBD on the naming stuff.

In this new beta, the assets you purchased/get for free are available in Asset Manager along with the assets you’ve created. You can use the filters or search to find them (source should say ‘Creator Store’), and when we have folders you’ll be able to neatly organize them any way you want for even easier access.

I can have a chat with store team about their plans to make assets you’ve acquired from the store easier in their product as well.

Thanks so much for the feedback! Hope you enjoy the beta

I am also having this error; I’ve noticed that after 5-10 minutes of getting the error message my ROBLOX Studio disconnects me from my game and goes to the “Attempting to reconnect” screen just for the cycle to restart itself.

can’t import anything with or without the beta enabled. got this awesome message instead

This update has nothing to do with the outage. The issue is entirely unrelated. Please use your eyes.

To actually contribute to this thread—I don’t have much to add personally (though I’m sure this is a significant improvement for those who heavily use the Asset Manager). However, it’s great to see the engineers communicating so openly with everyone!! :slightly_smiling_face:

Ohh I understand, my bad!
At first (based on RDC announcement), I thought the toolbox would be completely removed, I’m usually using that for placeholder models and I don’t want it to be gone, but if it’s going to stay, that’s fine.

That was all I was concerned about, thanks for letting me know

I like and don’t like the update because some easy things become more complicate for me personally. I have my very old assets mixed with my new ones and I don’t need to see them.
Also how I create a new place ID for my game ?

Thanks for the feedback!

To create a new place in your game, you can right-click anywhere in the browser on the right side and there should be an option “Add New Place”

As for old and new assets, to help with that, you can try sorting the assets based on “Date Modified” or “Date Created” (Date Created is a column you can show by right-clicking on the list header if viewing in list mode)

If you have more feedback and questions, don’t hesitate to let us know!

Alright, thank you for the clarifications!
I also don’t have a big computer screen, I wonder if it would be possible to not hide completely the search bar until I need to scale then it takes more space on my screen.
Instead of hiding the search bar I would like to suggest to add it above the rest in the asset manager window :

– > (currently)

→ ?

EDIT :
I just noticed this very small button, I didn’t know what this button was doing, I thought it would scale the page but no ! So feel free to ignore my suggestion!

Also I reverted to the old asset manager because when I imported assets, they loaded endlessly, and when I put in the old one, it loaded correctly.

This is cool, but our game isnt saving… is there a new button for that or is this a bug?

If only there was a banner on the top of the forums that linked to the status page detailing the problem…

This is a chance I have been wanting for a long time. I look forward to testing it.

thanks for the feedback! This is on our radar, and we’re targeting support later this year. We’ll have more details on the timing the next couple of months.

that is so bad it was put as early this year and now it is later this year :cry:

When saving assets to roblox, can you please make it so the game owner group is selected as the Creator to upload to by default please?

I have to manually select my group each time I wanna upload something manually, Asset Manager doesn’t do this, so Save To shouldn’t too.

I’m sorry, but can you guys start releasing products that’re at least close to being done? By the looks of it this isn’t even a third complete. Right now it offers nothing over the old one. It’s less intuitive, its harder to use, it’s cluttered, and the very worst part is when you upload an asset it doesn’t show up, so you can quickly import it.

I understand that you must test them, but there are features that’ve been in beta for over 3 years, and others that’ve been completely abandoned.

For additional context, 2+ year old beta features can no longer have feedback provided to the devs responsible for said beta feature as the devforum posts were automatically locked due to no response from the devs responsible for making it production-ready.
