Finally Roblox is investigating more avatar asset categories to meet creator demands. This was long overdue.
Next up, you guys should really look into handheld items, Classic Faces, and Classic Heads. Trying to force creators to only create what falls into the currently-available categories does not work, severely limits creativity, and can make browsing the Marketplace genuinely difficult for the average user because of all the miscategorized items. I don’t want to find handheld weapons in Shirts, and I don’t want to find static heads in Dynamic Heads!
Roblox, maybe you should take some of the negative feedback. like when you mentioned R6 deprecation, you received so much backlash, spoiler[/spoiler] but you never actually responded to it. you just ignored the negative feedback.
same thing is happening here. you did something that the community really doesn’t want. that’s ok. that happens sometimes. that’s not avoidable. but you have to respond to it well and act accordingly, unless, of course, this update somehow cripples revenue and puts the corporation’s income on the line.
even though you know more about what you’re doing than we do, the community has valuable feedback.
Nuh uh, I don’t like this. Nobody really wanted price floors anyways. Infact, pretty sure it was better for yall when UGC Creators were spending THOUSANDS of Robux to give away UGC Dynamic Heads and Bodies.
i have a suggestion to improve this. rather than having price floors, to give creators more power and ability with their item pricing, you should just remove price floors all together
that way creators can price their items the way they want them to be, and not be controlled by some ahh price floor
please take my idea into consideration.
They should remove the price floor entirely. It should be up to the people actually uploading UGC to respond to supply and demand by appropriately pricing their products at something players are actually willing to pay for that particular type of product, not whatever Roblox arbitrarily decides should be the minimum.
it’s more like they’re trying to use a temporary damage control method permanently, even going as far as to not actually cap the price floors, while the marketplace gets flooded with low quality items that are now overvalued too
which is really bad considering you need to hand out your personal information to roblox, to pull out a credit card and to subscribe to premium, and on top of that, pay fees to upload and then taxes when someone buys your item, all just for UGCs
so i feel like if you’re forced to go through all those hurdles, you should have authority over how much your item should cost on the marketplace, not roblox
and if you’re aware that your items are far from the best, then you would probably like to sell them for really cheap, so at least some people would buy them, but price floors prevent this from happening (and supply and demand stuff too but like yeah)
Seeing as most Gear scripts broke after 2018, handheld UGC items should fill that void. I’ve seen a few Shoulder Accessories that offset a weapon into your hand, but they only work on R6 avatars. There is already a dedicated Attachment inside R15 avatars (i.e. RightGripAttachment) that could be used to weld onto a new Accessory type. Ideally use the left arm, so it does not interfere with equipping actual Tools.
There are scenarios where many developers want to give out free unlimited UGC: earning a prize through gameplay (instead of just a Badge); hosting our own holiday events like Egg Hunts and Christmas Giftsplosion; or even RDC handouts (last year I received business cards from two other attendees with redeemable codes for their UGC hats.)
Not sure if this has rolled out for all existing items yet, but I’m personally noticing some examples in the marketplace where most of the items in a specific niche are correctly marked as body suits, but there are a few sticklers that are most certainly body suits that are still priced below the body suit price floor. I feel like unless corrected, these creations are going to have a large advantage in the marketplace that other creators aren’t able to compete with. Here’s just a couple examples:
You bring a valid point. The low quality dresses do not track the lower body so it’s just a static skirt. All of the best dresses should be bodysuits now.
Absolutely. I have always caged my dresses as per the guidelines for layered clothing. This encourages me to reupload them with incorrect caging just so I can compete on price.
As a long time clothing creator I can confirm price floors do literally nothing except ruin the economy.
Price floor is as good as a forced/mandatory price. Price it any higher and people will go elsewhere to get the exact same product. Only other thing it does is force people to pay more for what previously would have cost less, assuming the price floor is relatively high.
I think a lot of people will appreciate the dresses being labeled as fully caged. I know when I was specifically looking for that stuff I could never tell until the character was animated because the latter is inferior quality.
