It is clear roblox only does whatever benefits them and pushes out those changes under the guise of improvements to developer experience. Truly pathetic.
I do not see why Roblox can’t just add the option to buy either via Robux or USD. It’s a very simple implementation, yet it would massively help everyone, bonus point if devs can offer a discounted price with USD compared to robux to encourage purchasing via USD themselves.
I’m not going to let this topic die until a change is made.
Give us robux purchases again, and make the real money purchases available in other countries.
Honestly, ROBLOX, this is starting to get ridiculous. I know that the mods read these messages so if one could pass this massive cry from the community on that would be much be appreciated!
It’s simple, while staying respectful:
If you can afford $1200 for plugins, that’s great, your games are very popular, congrats!
But that’s not the case for smaller creators who are just starting out.
I don’t have time for a long message with lots of points, and devs don’t always follow what the community asks.
My main argument is this:
If you know Blender or other development software, you’d know there are always ways to get free plugins (legally, not cracked). Here, we see a very advanced plugin, which allows some creators to move from a simple, free tool to a professional plugin that offers a wide range of features, but at a high cost.
This isn’t about competing to see which plugin is the most expensive! Let’s focus on the fact that there’s no open-source option, and Roblox has pushed for real-money pricing only.
As a result, 95%+ of creators increased their prices because sales dropped (except for popular plugins).
Now, putting myself in the shoes of a small creator who just started, with no team or experience, I’d have to pay around $50 for four essential plugins, whereas two years ago, 4k Robux would have been enough
I also hope this topic never gets closed
Look at the first image, most of them are 30 to 90, including the one in the second image, (85.99) for personal commercial use.
I understand your argument, it sucks that all plugins raised prices. What I don’t understand is which are these “essential” plugins, because the most useful ones I have are free.
I mean, I don’t use plugins a lot, but that’s my point, AFAIK there aren’t any paid essential plugins.
Our goal has been to create a healthy ecosystem where creators are incentivized to create and share innovative plug-ins. Moving to real-world currency enabled us to offer a higher revenue share for those creators, addressing a long-standing pain point for the plugin creator community. This did result in a trade-off of some creators no longer being able to purchase plug-ins if they didn’t have access to currency or lived in an unsupported country. Unfortunately, offering both Robux and real-world currency options is not feasible at this time.
The good news is that this change has been very positive for most plugin creators. At RDC 24, we shared that Creator Store sellers had earned 2.5X more net income with real-world currency compared to Robux. As a result, we’ve seen the emergence of new and innovative plug-ins on the platform.
You just brushed off everyone’s concerns, instead of properly adressing them and adjusting the system. What makes supporting Robux and USD at the same time unfeasable?
Why couldn’t Robux payment be reintroduced without the sales tax, which was a huge selling point of this new system?
Our goal has been to create a healthy ecosystem where “popular” creators are incentivized to create and share innovative plug-ins.
Everyone I know who used to make a few thousand Robux per day, now earns a maximum of $7 per week ^^ (yes, they are not the privileged creators).
I think they are referring to DevExable Robux. If Robux were added as a purchase method, developers could use the Creator Store as a way to get around DevEx fees by setting up an alt account, creating a plugin, and buying it over and over again. Since there is no good way of preventing this from happening without completely changing how developers are paid (if you don’t want to charge for plugins at a post-DevEx-rate), I think Roblox is holding off on it.
Though, I don’t see a problem with bought-Robux or Roblox credit; that might come down to some limitation with how Roblox uses Stripe to pay Creator Store developers.
@FriendlyAdder actually adress our concerns. Adress the points that I and many others have made. Talk. To. Us.
This is having the same issues as the Indoor Reflection Maps update. Lack of communication, concerns being brushed off, and poor excuses for why bad choices won’t be changed being made.
Hey all! Jumping in here to share a bit more on where we’re at with Creator Store. I hear you and understand this has been disruptive for sellers who aren’t able to set up Stripe accounts, some international creators, and buyers who just want to use Robux they already have.
When we transitioned Creator Store offerings to be based on real-world currency, it allowed us to increase the revenue share we give creators selling assets through the Store. This was a complex change that came with its own unique limitations, as many of you have pointed out in this thread. The upshot is that we have seen a consistent increase in earnings for Store sellers, even with the current USD limitations and increased price floors. However, the new real-world pricing model does not currently support and may never support Robux as a means to get Store items. As stated in our Terms, Robux are not a substitute for real currency, do not earn interest, and have no equivalent value in real currency. It’s a complex situation that we aren’t able to tackle without introducing legal complexities.
All that said, while there’s been a lot of positive momentum, especially for Store creators, we acknowledge that the breadth of access to Store for buyers and sellers today is not what we want long term - we want the wonderful library of community assets to be accessible to creators of any age, anywhere in the world. We’ll continue to read your feedback and look for routes to support everyone’s needs as best we can!
It would be cool that the plugin cost options will be: Free, Robux, Real Money
That’s the best joke I’ve heard in my life lmao. Indeed, limiting the countries that support Creator Store purchases & forcing people to pay with real money instead of Roblox’s own currency is such a greeeat way of making the store accessible
Great Job Roblox! Now i have no chance of buying Plugins Now! i have to wait till this new Idiotic system comes to argentina (that will never happen) i will have to resort to piracy now!
On one hand, YAY potential to earn more money; on the other, frick I have none.
Understand why they did it, understand the benefits, understand why they can’t include robux. Still don’t like it, but don’t really see an applicable solution. Only thing I could think of is just making robux easier to convert to real-world currency so that it’s easier to buy the items (or streamlining it just for purchases if that’s legal); maybe a way to accept paypal too so you don’t need a bank card to pay.
