Introduction
Hello, I’m Kayden, But i’m known as Metamorphist in ROBLOX, you could call me ethier as i have nothing against it. i specialize in animating, composing, and building.
As you know,
there is groups you can join to get a word under your user like “Animator” “Composer” “Programmer” “Builder” and others
But
There is not many groups, meaning people who are for example “Tester” cannot find a group In DevForum for that kind of skill.
what kind of groups?
Well, i thought for awhile and came up with these.
•Testers
•Planners
•Guide
•Place Inspector
•And any others you would like to see!
Keep this in mind
You do not have to do this as this is just a suggestion, Im not forcing you to create this and im not trying to start a argument for if this should be made or not.
I would extremely would love to see this update as i see many Forum members who cant find group they specialize in, if you take this in a wrong way its really up to you to remove this, by doing a flag with a descriptive description.
First of all, the additional groups that you mentioned can either be part of the current ones (such as Bot Programmer), or don’t even belong on the Developer Forum like the YouTubers.
Having too many groups can make overchoice swoop in and make people not be able to choose the group(s) that they best specialize in at all. Having the current amount is great.
Well, if they cant choose a group they obviously have groups that they are both good at meaning they could join both and most likely switch the titles each week or so. And YouTubers could be in the DevForum as they help it grow by playing games and helping the games grow, they also sometimes create their own games but would rather have the title of a youtuber.
This is in theory a good idea, but I don’t think it’ll work as well in this forum.
Most of the titles and groups that we have right now are more generalized to cover all of those aspects. If this wasn’t the case, then there would be too many groups, and discussions on each branch would just make the forum more convoluted and unnecessarily complex.
If you’re a builder, then you’re a builder. There are many styles and approaches to building that making them separate is too complex.
Personally, I consider being a tester, content creator, YouTuber, or group moderator separate from development. Arguably, some could be related, however.
More groups would be nice to add but at the same time, it would just create a mess.
If you’re a bot programmer, then you’re a programmer either way as you program, if we are talking about protectors/testers, wouldn’t that be like the people who run the flag system and possibly people who help out members and such?
^ For testers, I guess those are staff who run the forums and see what bugs are there and maintenance.
It’s not development related for a YouTubers group, I don’t know if this will work on the forums as almost a lot of YouTubers aren’t familiar with development on Roblox.
I like the groups currently with Programmers, Top Contributors, and UI Designers as they kind of coordinate with your ideas that you’ve posted.
Fair enough, but I don’t know a type of role or position for a staff member or user who protects Roblox games?
Testing Roblox games? Fair enough again but I don’t get it as 90% of games don’t even have testers and if this is talking about another position on the website, then I never recalled of one role for testing other users game.
Well, usually the Fans rank is called testers in most groups, but there is many groups that have a tester role you can sign up to test the early stages of a update on their game
I don’t really see any of these as developers. The DevForum is for developers, and none of those describe someone who develops. It’s fine for those people to be on the DevForum but those specific groups seem kind of obscure and aren’t really developers. I think the current groups are fine, as they include all the different types of Roblox game developers.
I mean, this is an idea worth while. However, don’t agree with Content Creators/Youtubers going into the devforum. Just doesn’t make sense ngl other than content creators that know how to develop games.
The groups you mentioned do not relate to any kind of development skill. The name DevForum meaning Developer Forum states that it’s meant for Developers.
This is the DevForum, where you have developer related discussion. If you’re a Youtuber, you could just write it in your bio, as that’s what a bio is for.
A Youtuber rank or any other rank is quite unnecessary.
That just blows my mind, if you’re a developer, you probably test the game out yourself or at least i do
I specialize in testing myself, but being a ‘tester’ isn’t necessarily a developing skill, and the same goes for being a Youtuber or Group moderator.
At the end of the day what matters most is that everyone who is on this forum and contributes constructively has a good way to identify themselves.
I think “Tester”/QA is definitely a valid developer role that should be recognized if there is a large enough demand for it. Unfortunately from this post it doesn’t seem to be the case right now.
