Dominus Formidulosus has low quality buttons on R6 with multiple accessories & texture bleeding

For context, I’ve decided to file this report to describe the issues that persist with the current texture after the fixes were implemented to address the previous report for the Dominus Formidulosus that was silently marked as closed. The information in the previous report is outdated; Form currently fits the head correctly and experiences white seams. This issue has been unresolved for over 5 years. It should technically be prioritized by its age over its impact because the previous report is the oldest report in this category (created prior to this category even existing). The team told me that they still consider this an issue on 6/12/23, but I haven’t heard much from them since then. I would love to see them finish what they started.

Reproduction Steps
Play any game wearing the Dominus Formidulosus. To observe it with the low quality buttons, wear it with multiple accessories in R6.

Expected Behavior
The UV map should be filled to completion to prevent texture bleeding, and the button should be enlarged on the UV map to prevent the buttons from becoming distorted on R6. Possibly, this could be achieved by making the texture bigger, so there’s more space to enlarge the button.

Here is a concept that completely resolves the issues with an explanation by @YumCherryPies.

  1. Save massive amounts of space on the texture by removing the texture of a 4th pair of wings that was never used and mirroring the item so it is completely symmetrical, and then just using the same texture for each pair of wings instead of each of them having separate textures.
  2. And also the random line that is near the front of the orange outside of the hood can be fixed by reconnecting the vertices on the mesh. I’m not sure if that was ever intentionally put there because it looks like it was added onto the hat to make it long enough to fit over the head and only under certain Roblox lighting it can be seen.

Corrected mesh for the re-mapped texture: Form Remapped.obj (194.4 KB)

Actual Behavior
The UV map has transparent gaps which causes texture bleeding. The buttons become distorted while wearing multiple accessories on R6 because the button is too small on the UV map.

I’m bumping this report in hopes of seeing it finally be put to rest. Recently, I’ve seen many trivial issues with old accessories be addressed, so I don’t understand why this isn’t being prioritized. On 6/12/23, I was told via PM that this wasn’t being prioritized due to there being other issues of greater impact (1). However, I think this is no longer the case. This isn’t the only issue in the backlog: There are many other reports of similar or greater impact that have been left unresolved. These issues aren’t going to fix themselves. I don’t like feeling ignored or lied to. Honestly, it’s disappointing to see detailed reports like mine be ignored. This is my last resort; I’ve been extensively trying to get this fixed since 2022. I would like to see this situation improve soon!

Hey OP, I agree with your post and I feel like Dominus Form is underappreciated which is sad, I think it’s a unique concept for a Dominus and I’m hoping a resolve is found for this item.

Today, Dominus Form’s texture was updated! Although it’s a messy quick fix, the new texture appears to resolve the seam issue. I understand the team is overwhelmed with the current influx of reports, so I appreciate the engineer who made this quick fix. I’m just happy to finally see some progress being made towards resolving this issue again. The remaining issue is the distortion of the buttons while wearing multiple accessories on R6. If anyone would like to comment on regressions from a technical standpoint, please feel free to do so. I will when I have more time as well.

Although the major texture bleeding has been fixed, the seam line in front of the hood has not been. I got confirmation today from @JauntyArtStudio on X who was the 3D artist behind making this accessory for Roblox that the seam line is indeed not part of the artist’s intent.
Here is his statement:

In addition, the concept art provided by Roblox to Jaunty when commissioning the ‘Dominus Formidulosus’, although strays far from the final product, once again does not have the seam line, suggesting that it may have been an error on Roblox’s hand when publishing the accessory that should be fixed as it would make the Dominus series more consistent.

Textures should be compressed in R6. This is intended.

An engineer told me very recently that the buttons being significantly distorted while wearing multiple accessories on R6 is a bug. As I stated in the report, the button needs to be enlarged in the UV map to mitigate this. Also, the way textures are currently composited for R6 is considered a bug too. In May 2021, I spoke with another engineer about this issue (1). They called it a “humanoid texture compositor bug” and filed a ticket into the internal database for it. I understand that things could’ve changed because I haven’t heard much from them since then. There’s even an open report for this issue.

Ah oh that makes more sense with the information you provided. I always knew that on R6 the textures would always compress with accessories, but I didn’t know it was a bug.
