I know disclosing criteria can have negative side effects, but I think it is necessary to promote transparency (which Roblox is severely lacking) and to insure that Roblox is being fair in the way they are awarding this highly sought badge. At this point, it almost seems arbitrary as to who gets verified and who doesn’t.
Hope you can pass along this feedback to whoever it may concern.
Honestly great! I hope in a few years when the Roblox algorithm sees me as a “top creator” I can receive one. I’m excited to see the amount of creators in this program grow and change in the near future.
Likely going to be the case. Roblox is going to be going strictly off of what happens in studio, not outside. If they went off of what happens outside some little Timmy can easily lie and say they worked on a verified game to get the verified badge.
Obviously Roblox themselves collaborated with Walmart and know their actual account, so it’s an authentic brand they do not need to ID-verify. Of course Roblox knows they are not an impersonator.
Not really fair per say, as I am not actively in my games studio but I do a ton of the planning work to get the ground running for games. I believe it should be on a case by case basis not based on studio hours. As I joint own studio with my business partner and our game group is verified. I am somewhat upset Roblox doesn’t have clear transparent guidelines when it comes to things like this obviously I have contributed a lot doesn’t mean I needed to be in studio to contribute.
Edit: I think Roblox should have applications for verified badges so it is handled more fairly and not just randomly dish them out as obviously it is flawed when you have creators with hundred million visit games with no verified status.
To all of you people wondering why you personally (your profile) doesn’t have the verification badge, but you think you meet the requirements: You HAVE to be ID Verified on Roblox, and have 2 Factor Authentication enabled. And of course, you need to be active on the platform, which means you have to have logged into Roblox in the last 6 months.
This is kinda interesting because a ALT holds my group. Maybe I have to get verified on my alt and enable it. but that wouldn’t be giving my main verification.
Kind of sad that me and many other developers have been developing on the platform for almost a decade and still don’t have this verified badge whilst have been contributing to games with combined over 1B+ visits
I’m not sure if you made any games that you own or just contributed to but I don’t think they will verify people who have worked on it. I’m not sure if they give any effort in looking who works for the games and group and just verifying the most known person of it.
Oof just enough information to continue to play the line between providing us information while continuing to lack transparency.
If the verified badges are for notable developers, wouldn’t it make sense to verify all developers on the RDC list?
Out of millions of creators DevRel picks maybe 1000 or less to attend the conference every year?
Are you selecting based on the merit of developers that have contributed to this platform in some manner or a popularity contest?
I know a ton of developers whom may have never made a game with 100 million visits but are widely known and are notable throughout the development community due to their contributions to the platform and I can see why they’d be upset someone who made a cash grab simulator gets verified over them.
As an experienced developer, I cannot help but notice a concerning pattern reminiscent of the Crown of O’s scenario, where only the owners of experiences receive credit, and even that is not always executed effectively.
Prior to the recent changes, the creators behind popular projects like Blox Fruits and Brookhaven were not verified. It appears that the program disproportionately favored User-Generated Content (UGC) creators, often overlooking the crucial contributions of developers.
It is essential to question why talented developers, who consistently contribute to remarkable experiences, are repeatedly sidelined in these initiatives. Their invaluable work should be recognized and appreciated to foster a more inclusive and equitable environment for all stakeholders in the development ecosystem.
I’ve been an intern twice, a official Roblox toy, and have been directly involved in games with hundreds of millions of visits yet I’m still not verified lol
Yeah, great. I just love it. Why do I have to provide my ID for the badge, when I already have my phone and my mail verified AND 2FA with an authenticator? I’m not giving a 3rd party my ID.
What about younger top creators that maybe don’t have access to an ID? Are they just going to be tossed to the side because they can’t verify their ID?
