I have been working on an infinite obby for almost 2 days now and I’d like to get feedback from other players on how good/bad my obby is.
Where did I get the game idea?
My little brother thinks obby’s are easy, so I wanted to make an obby that he wouldn’t be able to finish any time soon.
How does the game work?
Just like regular obby’s, but in my obby it puts an randomly selected level at the finish of the current level when you finish it. Failing and winning levels and time itself can alter your score. Winning increases it, while failing and time decreases it, but not as much as winning increases it.
Are there premium benefits?
Yes, these include:
Time won’t alter your score
Get an extra 75 points for every level you finish
Double chance to get a special win when you finish a level (so more chance to get extra points)
A general jump boost, not much but it’s something
Use of free assets
There are 4 free assets used in my game:
Sound effects for winning (2 different ones) and losing, each are the same asset but I changed their volume and playback speed a bit. ((Invalid audio) - Roblox)
This game is great!
I love the way the random colours look and the way the obby is built and with a bit of marketing and fixes I think you could have a succesful obby game!
Here are some of my suggestions:
1 – Make the stages link up to further give the illusion that it is infinite.
2 – Add more stages regularly to make people come back to your game.
3 – Add a thumbnail and game icon to draw new players in.
4 – Randomise the colour of the skybox aswell as the colour doesn’t realy match the stages.
By that I mean link up the stages so that you can look back and see every stage that you have done and you arent just teleported to a different part of the map. It would help the player belive that the obby is truly infinite.
But then you get the issue of levels overlapping, which I don’t know how to fix. Say for example you first get stage 1, then 3 times stage 4, and then stage 1 again… then the 2 stage 1s would overlap.
Really cool! I liked the way that the previous levels disappear when you have completed them. Maybe you could make the parts spawn with a random material to make it even more varied?
The game is great, but I think you should add a logo to your game because if you add a logo/image about the parkour, it may be better. Also if you add harder stages it will may be better.
That is my opinion.
To everyone who played my game, I moved to from DataStores to OrderedDataStores, this has
2 pros and 1 con.
Pros:
I can more easily make a game-wide leaderboard.
I might be able to prevent any data loss if I switch to another system again.
Con: all saved data has been reset, if you wish to have your data recovered please contact me by sending me a message on devforum, or by sending me a DM on Discord (AceKiron#5467)
