Forum Moderation Still Relies on Old Rules Despite Developer Forum Rebrand

OBSERVATION from OP: This post follows the current guidelines on making a forum feature post while following the current rules of the Developer Forum.

Roblox Developer Forum Rules & International Communities

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to use the Developer Forum due to outdated moderation practices that still enforce the old forum rules, even though Roblox has introduced a new set of guidelines.

In 2024, Roblox rebranded the Developer Forum, introducing a post about updated rules to help new users better understand how to make topics, reply, and engage with the community. As part of this change, the old rules were hidden from public view. Even if someone accesses the link to the old rules, a message now states that the information is outdated and users should refer to the new guidelines instead:

However, despite these changes, I recently received a message stating that one of my replies was removed for being “off-topic.” Upon reviewing the reason, I was surprised to find that the moderation action was based on the old forum rules rather than the updated ones. This creates confusion, as the existence of new rules should mean that they are the primary standard for moderation. Enforcing outdated rules contradicts the intent of the rebrand and negatively impacts users who expect moderation decisions to be based on the latest guidelines.

To make matters worse, there is no way to appeal these decisions. According to the automated moderation message, users are instructed to go to Moderation > Appeal Account or Content to submit an appeal. However, this section no longer exists, as shown in the following screenshot:

While this may seem like a minor issue, it significantly affects users who are unfairly moderated due to outdated enforcement policies. There is no point in having refreshed guidelines if they are not being followed, and the inability to appeal creates an even more frustrating experience.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my experience using the forum because moderation would be fair, consistent, and aligned with the current rules, ensuring a transparent and reliable environment for developers. Additionally, restoring a proper appeal process would give users a way to contest incorrect moderation decisions.
