Future Is Bright: Phase 3 - Studio Beta

This is so good, No light leaking!

I do hope that the range limit is drastically increased above 60 as the current limit really limits the capabilities of Fibv3 (Repost due to a mistake in my last one)

Do SurfaceLights not light up the part they are parented to anymore? It leads to some weird effects:
ShadowMap:

Future:

Will SurfaceLights be kept like this, or will this be changed?

Awesome! I would love to use this in my future games!

I’ve already messed with FiB 3, and it just looks amazing. (my game’s lighting already has a lot of effort put into it, this just makes it look even better)

ShadowMap:

Future:

The lighting just becomes too good to be ROBLOX’s. ROBLOX has came a long, long way since the new terrain shaders.

The weird film grain you see is caused by the wiki’s weird image compression algorithm, at least in my case.

What’s with the film grain? Was this in studio?

It looks really good, but I’m still wondering how much the performance takes a hit.

the future seems dark because spotlights are still limited to range=60

That may be a issue with their shaders. I once wrote a shadow map lighting shader, and had a similar issue. I’m pretty sure they’ll patch it soon.

Actually, it seems to be that this issue is caused by the Wiki’s image compression algorithm. Kind of scary, don’t you think?

Again, the lighting looks amazing, played around a little with it in studio and I’m amazed by how far Roblox is getting.

For those who experience laggy games/studio or so,
if your PC has a graphics card like NVidia you can change which GPU to use for Roblox in your NVidia settings, which is what I did, now it runs smooth like butter, if FPS weren’t capped I’d have the multiple of 60 FPS at max graphics.

(You’ll have to do this with Studio too though, I only set it for RobloxPlayer here.)

I set my GPU to NVidia instead of Intel, runs FiB 3.0 so much better.

In my game’s main menu, I used to get 200+ FPS with ShadowMap. With Future, I get 70 - 110 FPS. I’m not 100% sure if I really want to keep Future on for my game’s release, as I’m afraid performance will take too much of a hit and the game won’t look that much better.

FIB 3 oh ya this cool

I’m assuming this as with an FPS unlocker?

Yes, using rbxfpsunlocker. While it is true that a game at 100 FPS is playable, I have a just-decent computer (Athlon 240GE + Radeon RX 570), and I’m scared that my players may get lower framerate than they would expect for this game.

It looks really good! The detail is so in depth!

Maybe you should add options in your game to change graphics. It should do the trick.

Yes, my game has a lot of dirty graphical tricks (motion blur, reflections, etc). I’ve thought of adding a settings menu, and I will. I definitelly could use something like that, since I want my game to be playable to even mobile users, while giving a great experience to those with a device powerful enough to render such a scene.

Thanks for your suggestion.
