Future Is Bright: Phase 3 - Studio Beta

For me there’s no difference from Future than ShadowMap

This is amazing!! It appears that light leaks are completely GONE, lights cast realistic shadows, and materials no longer need the sun to show off their true potential. Thank you so much for everyone who pulled this off!!

Here’s a comparison of Compabilitity, ShadowMap, and then Future.

Your studio graphics level is too low. You need to change the Edit Quality property in your studio settings:

Most of my places use SurfaceLights, upon first turning this feature on I was asking myself “Well, what’s new?” when I realised shadows weren’t working. Tried with the PointLight and sure enough that was the source of my issue.

This will revolutionize the Horror genre. You will be much more immersed in a game that uses realistic shadows and lighting, the old lighting technology had problems with the lights clipping through walls and wasn’t as detailed as this.
Here are some tests that I’ve done with the new Future update.
I’ve created an actual flashlight that looks somewhat decent.
Thank you for this amazing update!

Is it normal that light objects don’t affect part’s shadows?
I used the max graphics level and night time.

Is this in ROBLOX even? Because I see film grain thats often found in Blender

the beta is live right now. go to “lightning” and change “Technology” to “Future”. make sure you max out your graphics to see the full effect

Odd lighting bug here though, the light shadows are wonky in some places. When I move or select the part it seems to fix itself but when I move the camera back a bit and go back to the area it reverts the fix.

I’m also noticing some kind of grain effect as others are saying and it’s also pixelated:

My graphics mode is ‘Automatic’ and both ‘Quality Level’ and ‘Edit Quality Level’ are level 21.

The feature at the moment looks like a great concept, and I can’t wait until it’s polished!
Here is one of my old hallway builds, I edited the lighting to better suit this lighting update.

This is really cool! The light shadows have given me some cool ideas for a level in my game. I haven’t been able to try it out yet, but all these screenshots look really good. This just might be my favorite phase of FiB.

Also, I hope that some new settings will be added for lighting. Some people here have suggested settings for things like specular to be added, and for more control over lighting. I really hope they’re gonna add more properties to Lighting with this update.

I’ve had to do some mitigation to allow for the ceiling to be illuminated such as taking advantage of the fact surfacelights do not work yet, nevertheless it’s allowed me to happily experiment with what’s to come.

it doesn’t work for me

Have you checked to make sure studio is using the supported rendering engine?

this?

Looks reallly but really amazing!

I have no words to describe how amazing this is, it looks just amazing!

But, there is problem, it doesn’t affect surface gui even tho the settings say to light effect it, which makes them look very outstanding:

Unless I am doing something wrong.

Oh you know it, i’m generally wondering if I can enable it with the avatar evolution studio, as i’m cooking up a sweet hyper realistic showcase.

The image uses shadowmap, as I don’t think FIB3 is supported on the avatar evolution version of studio.
