Wow this really is some amazing stuff! I really love how the shadows are now accurately projected depending on the lighting and make more sense overall.
Great to see this technology coming out. Although i have a question, i watched some videos which showed beta builds that had particles cast shadows from the sun and other light sources. Was this just a test of the technology or is it a planned feature that hasn’t been added yet?
Wow, stunning update.
And just like that, the gap between Roblox and other 3D engines like Unity becomes much smaller.
This is fantastic. Spot Lights look unbelievably real now!
Pretty cool !
We can’t use PointLights as ambient light anymore tho, there are some unwanted reflections of the light source :c
why aren’t we able to switch the lighting technology in-game? i wanna make shadowmap/future (when its available outside of studio) a setting but the only choice i have is disabling globalshadows
Have you enabled the .Shadows proeprty of PointLights?
Nice! The new lighting makes just about everything look really good! Here’s a cool screenshot I took with it:
The film grain is caused by the Wiki’s image compression algorithm (and aswell caused by ROBLOX shaders, the most noticeable grain is caused by Wiki’s image compression, though. The one that can be seen when your camera is close to shadows is likely to be a issue with ROBLOX shaders)
probably because of IOS, android and xbox client.
oh I forgot, I was using reshade for reflections but I don’t think I had film grain on…
that must have been the plastic texture messing with the lighting
The same is happening to me. I have built a site like your’s and having the same problem.
It’s because game.Lighting.Technology is temporary. It says it in Lighting | Documentation - Roblox Creator Hub
I love these updates, they are so good! Please continue amazing updates like this!
Edit: Oof, I just read that the updates were ending.
hmmm half blox 2 future in few images
The difference becomes obvious with the introduction of one (or more) sources of light. Otherwise, Future and Shadow map look completely identical to each other.
