So, i am trying to get my game more popular, with as little robux as possible as i dont really have any…
the game in question is (according to the people who played it so far) actually fairly fun, at least my statistics say that they play, on average, about an hour and a half
I’m really stumped as to why people arent joining more (i.e., friends joining their friends, etcetera)
I’m really straight out of luck if it involves large sums of money (paying youtubers, like the simulators do it)
You can tell to your friends your game, what i will do when i publish my game, is announce that on a famous group (If the owner allows you), like Paradigm Games, my brother is on the discord group, he might ask the owner to advertise the upcoming game in his group, there’s a high chance to be accepted.
Do you know Work at a pizza place? Well, there’s a furniture that you can buy, which is a portal, you can set the id of your game, and put a text “Check out my game!” and im sure that someone will go to the portal!
Those are my basic ideas to advertise for free. Thanks for reading.
Even a small sponsor can go a long way. If the game is well monotized and you are getting a 30 minute avg play time, even a 1k sponsor might be enough to make a return on investment and allow you to sponsor more.
EDIT: A while back I made a tutorial on how to make a successful game! Check it out !
(I redid no parts of the tutorial too . So I’ll post the remade one here too!)
Step 1 - Game Idea
Making a game idea is easy, but many people over think it. You would need to know what it would be, how it would go, the certain order things move in, and would players have fun. Like I said above, get a popular game and make it your own, flood escape + parkour, flood-kour! VERY IMPORANT: IF YOU WOULDNT HAVE FUN MAKING THE GAME, DONT DO IT!!! Why make a boring game and spend time into it? That’s just bland.
Step 2 - Questions
You need to plan a game out, what would it be, would it get you any revenue? Would it get popular, what do I add to make it mind-blowing? These are just some of the few questions that many ask before creating a game.
Step 2 - Rough Draft
There are two ways to doing this
Way 1
Get a pencil and paper, sketch out the layout and blue orient of your build. Join some ROBLOX games, take kailbreak for example, you would want to make jailbreak 2.0. You would take some thing from the game, add it into your sketch, and give it a @minkmink style!
Way 2
Do the above, but instead of using pen and paper, you could make rough drafts on ROBLOX, it would take longer, but it might increase your skill, in building, scripting, what ever you do.
Step 3 - Game Idea Feedback
Now this step is very risky and many developers do this after they make a game. You could ask people for there opinions on your game idea and blueprints, but like I said, it’s risky, if someone really likes the idea, they can steal it and make the game before you.
Step 4 - Making the game
Making the game isn’t going to just happen overnight, if it does, that means you didn’t try. Depending on what the game is, it could take up to a year! That’s highly unlikely, but I’ve seen games that have taken up to that. Maybe, a game could take 3-4 weeks. If it takes that long, that means you put effort.
Step 5 - Playing/Testing
You would want to maybe post your game link somewhere popular and gets some people to test your game out with you!
Step 6 - Enjoy the Game.
You’ve finished, now you can take a break and relax!
You should tell your friends in school or tell the whole school to play my game on this platform. And it will increase your player counts automatically.
I don’t consider my game extremely popular, but it usually has around 50-100 people on concurrently, I own an Ant Simulator, which are lowly developed, so my advice would be to make a game that doesn’t have as much light shown on it, or if you cannot then I would say to out-develop a game, my game when it came out had about 200 people playing 24/7, I didn’t run ads until a few months after and the player count decreased.
While ads and sponsored places are a decent way to put your game in front of an audience, the best way to market is to utilize platforms such as Discord, Twitter, YouTube and other places to really get your name out there. Contact influencers and see if they want to try out your game, for free or for a payment.
The reason why studios such as BIG Games and such so we’ll consistently is that they built and audience outside of Roblox, so that when an update or a new game comes out, players KNOW.
So go out there and start posting. Development progress, chatting with people in the Roblox community, anything to build up some sort of personal brand.
