- Do you speak French, Spanish or Portuguese? Read this post for information on how to join the Developer Forum as an international member.
The Roblox Developer Forum , previously known as RbxDev or DevForum , was created with the intent of fostering communication between Roblox developers.
For years, it was mistakenly regarded as the “elite of development” in the platform, the Forum is in fact a place for mutual growth and contribution, not for showcasing your so-called “skills”. The goal of the Developer Engagement Team is to empower developers with opportunities to participate in discourse about Roblox development and make information as readily available for all developers on the platform.
If you are interested in joining the Forum, below I have curated a few of the information spread across posts on the platform regarding the entry process.
As of January 2019 , the Developer Relations and Developer Engagement teams changed the process from applications to an activity-based system . This means that users who actively utilize the Developer Forum are now able to become Members through an automated process.
There is no information about specific requirements available to the public, but we do know this:
The algorithm tries to find users browsing the Development Support category, reading about recent updates made to the platform and tutorials created by our community.
Simply put, you should read as much about development as you can. The algorithm looks for active, interested and inspired developers. The process is natural if you are used to reading about the platform updates, tutorials and other discussions.
Furthermore, the system uses counter measures against scammers, trolls, alts and bots to avoid being tricked or mislead. This means your acceptance might be delayed when you behave in a way that indicates you just want to join the forum, but aren’t in fact interested in development.
As mentioned before, there is not a specific list of requirements you must meet to become a member. If you still haven’t been accepted it means you should read and browse more on the Forum.
Tip: try to find an interesting theme for you. For example, if you’ve always been interested in learning more about scripting, why don’t you read some tutorials here and give it a try?
But, first you, why don’t you also use this time to be familiar with Official Rules of the Roblox Developer Forum . This will help you get used to the community once you become a Member, and will give you some read-time. For that same reason, try messing with the settings, changing theme, browsing different categories and checking posts created by known developers.
@discobot is a helper bot, which teaches you how to use Discourse. It is also a very good way of learning about the Forum tools, and you should definitely invest some time on it. To talk to it, click on the user I just mentioned and then click on Message
Click “Message” and write to discobot . You can send a message saying “@discobot start new user” and it will begin a basic tutorial for you!
The entry process is natural , and should not be forced or attempted to be bypassed. If you still haven’t been accepted, simply keep using the Forum and you will eventually be invited to join it.
“The Developer Forum supports new and experienced Roblox developers in all things related to Roblox development. Inside, you can learn from our rich developer community, engage in discussions about upcoming features with Roblox staff, and finally you’ll get to know the community and staff who help make Roblox possible!”
Joining the Forum isn’t hard at all, but only if you are truly interested in development.
If you are here only for status or recognition, this isn’t a place fore you. But, if you are legitimately trying to contribute to the Roblox development community, you are much more likely to be accepted very quickly!
