How to prevent rigs legs from clipping through clothing

Hi, I’d love to know how to replicate physics (or just preventing clipping of legs through a mesh-part) for a model.

I was confused as to if I would use bones or another method to do so? There’s no precise tutorials that I’ve seen, I’ve looked at a plugin or smartbones, but am confused on the process. Like for example, with the coat not clipping through the legs while animated (?) *

I also looked at blender with it’s cloth modifier and did it there, but I don’t know where to go from there with bones? I read through the skinned meshes documentation but I’m unsure how this would work in general.
