Incoming Adjustment to 'Pending Sales' Waiting Period

I have to be completely honest about this new update, I both like this update and dislike this change. This update is good for the fact that this will reduce the amount of fraudulent purchases happening on the platform; however, the main reason why this would also be a controversial or "bad "update is because of the fact that developers sometimes rely on the income of Robux as a way to pay rent or fund their projects’ expenses such as advertisements.

Maybe Roblox can compromise. Decrease your market fee by 5%-10% or keep it at 3 days. Hell decrease it to 1 day.

please no yes im gonna sell my house and have to wait 3-7 days to get paid amazing

Roblox, we asked for shorter wait periods, not longer wait periods. I can understand why this update was pushed, but to be honest you really should shorten it. I’m thinking maybe 1 day.

This will probably screw over smaller developers like me who rely on premium payouts which do go through pending for funds.

I usually support updates that Roblox makes but, man, this just isn’t what we need or asked for at all. I can get why you went along with this decision to prevent scamming and Robux laundering, and I do appreciate that people over at Roblox try to prevent this from happening, but smaller developers like me need funding to sponsor/advertise our games or to pay our developers, artists, etc.

TL;DR: We asked for shorter wait periods, not longer, but Roblox decided to make the period longer and may screw over small developers like me and prevent us from paying our developers, artists, etc. and to fund our games so they don’t die into obscurity.

A week is long for me. But honestly, I’m not really worried about the waiting period, but I’m worried if my robux will ACTUALLY be sent to my account. Roblox moderation is already really bad in general, so I’m sure there will be some sort of misunderstanding.
After repeatedly waiting for the robux to be sent, I’ll always have that feeling that the moderators will not approve.

i think 3-4 days would be ok, to be honest, 7 days is a lot of time, specially for clothing designers that sells cheap clothing, it doesn’t worth it…
i think that this method of 7 days would work better with expensive objects (such as gamepasses or clothing that costs over than 100 - 10.000 robux)
And with cheap things, i think 2-4 days is ok.
@Kairomatic Its too many time for devs, specially devs that sells cheap gamepasses or dev producs.

So by this I get that you want people to be more secure, but a whole week! I think to add to security, you need to add some more automation to the system, it would be a lot better if only things that seem possibly dangerous get held for review, if not, when you’re doubling the time, will developers get compensation? Such as Roblox only taxing 20%. I think that by adding this it’s just doing a lot of harm and little good. If you are adding time to the wait, possibly give us some compensation until you can get it back down again. Please consider this.

Maybe implement proper Two-Factor Authentication.

Or maybe just work on site security in general. Probably better than just extending arbitrary timers.

Just a thought.

What I’ve taken from most of the replies on this thread is that a majority of people do not agree with this adjustment. While this adjustment is for a good reason, there may be other solutions or options to improve security that don’t involve increasing wait time for a developer’s income.

I’m sure many people have already mentioned other solutions on this thread, or have said similar things to what I have. Just felt like giving my input on the situation because I personally understand how stressful it can be waiting for pending sales.

I, personally, find this sort of unnecessary.

Some people, ( I know I am ) are already mad with the 3 day waiting period as it is. Making it take up to 7 days outrageous.

Say a dev makes 20k in Revenue, and he needs to pay his dev the 15% share he was promised every day. Well… he can’t… He wouldn’t be able to even without this adjustment.

I understand fully that this may help deter fraud and make sure people know where their robux is going but the cons far outweigh the pros ( in my mind )

This is just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

If Roblox continues like, the player and developer base will be seriously affected. I heard a new game engine Core game is under alpha testing right now, but I heard they give a bigger percentage. Maybe Roblox will act up that time…

Most platforms have 30% cut for distribution alone. With Roblox we get more than distribution. We get servers and a game engine and tools. It’s not perfect but they give us a lot. Places like epic store they are trying to get people to move to their store that uses their engine so they get a less cut so developers get more money.

All this is doing is extend the amount of Time it takes to get robux which I think anything about 5 days it too much time for getting money. This doesn’t seem to give less robux it just takes longer so I think this would benefit with constant streams of revenue. But then all of this I don’t think would increase any security.

Please Reconsider.

This is really going to hurt us.

I have a suggestion when publishing updates.

Think

Think about it like this

  • Are developers going to be happy or mad?
  • Is this going to get so much backlash that you have to revamp the update.

Next time think.

Although I agree with ROBLOX attempting to increase security and preventing fraud. I really feel like the time being increased to possibly a week could really damage developers when coming to paying various people. I really feel like this should have gone down instead of up.

I believe a better system would be based off of some sort of measurement or time frame affecting how long a transaction takes to process. Maybe a “score” would slowly go up over time with each purchase. With this score going up the amount of time to process would go down. Now if someone released a scam game or something related and was caught, the score would shoot back up and their games would be more extensively checked.

In the end, this change could really affect developers and prevent many great games from having the proper funds needed.

Instead of fixing things such as scam advertisements, scam games, the botting of the catalog, etc, you added another pointless update. 3 days was already a damn pain and you take 30% of our revenue and now you are making us wait 7 days for it? This is so unnecessary in my opinion. I hope you are going to reconsider this.

i hate to be that one guy but, instead of making your employees look at pending robux, why do you make the appeal system better?

I understand why this update is taking place. However, this is going to be extremely hard for people who do not have a source of group funds to pay developers. As a builder, I am not really up to spending a week waiting for my payment on something as simple as a house or really anything that I build…

I don’t this this is needed, there are other ways to prevent scams such as maybe hiring new moderators or getting better bots to review sales. This plan will just keep damaging the Roblox and developer relationship. Please reconsider this update and look at it in the eyes of the developers.

Just why? I get safety is the number one priority and that’s great but hundreds of bigger problems on roblox that require to be addressed. You already take 30% and more if you don’t have a monthly subscription… now even waiting 7 days for most likely a bad moderation just like everywhere else on the site…

This… This is just abysmal. Waiting 3 days was irritating already, but at least it was consistent. Not only does this mean I could end up having to wait a whole week to get paid for my work, but also I’ll have no clue how long it will actually take. On multiple occasions I have had to wait three days just to transfer enough robux into a group so I could slap a badge or two on a game of mine. Not only that, but the tax meant that I had to toss some extra robux into the void as well. But now you’re telling me, should I have to do that again (I will), I might have to wait even longer? That’s some baloney right there. I don’t like this. I can’t imagine a single soul who would like this.

I understand and agree with the motive behind this change, but was this really the best way to tackle scams? If anything, this will harm innocent developers more than scammers.
