Introducing "Hot Right Now" on Charts

Introducing: Trending²! Now with 20% more Trending than Trending!

I don’t see a huge difference here if you ask me, changing the order in which games are displayed isn’t going to fool me at least.

I’m not the type of person to be negative about everything but this is quite buttsauce.
It’s like we evolved backwards here and went right back to where we started!

A frontpage with games and experiences that are quite frankly pretty irrelevant to literally anyone looking for something fresh and new.

It’s like placing a billboard in right next to another billboard because apparently the first one wasn’t already big and noticeable enough.
And that second billboard is now being less than useful and taking up precious space that I feel could be utilized more strategically.

Now I quite wonder, who approved of this idea?

Because I’m fairly certain that every single Roblox feature gets reviewed before approval, which means at least 10 - 20 people (probably more) looked at this idea and thought “This is great! Let’s do it!” which is quite embarrassing.

I am going to give this the benefit of the doubt and say that this feature was a “little oopsie”.

This might sound crazy but at this point I’m convinced a single person are behind the recent changes…

Eh, well, you’re not exactly the everyday player or developer.

So theoretically if I decided to play at different times of the day the Hot Right Now chart would give me a different set of results. Whereas the Most Popular would just be the same all day.

I get it but…

Is there really a significant difference between timezones of what is being most played during peak play hours?
Unless this sort is localised (and there are definite preferences for different times of day) or there is a significant regional preference (and that regional preference is also great enough to swamp non-peak preferences in more populous areas, think what’s most popular in Hawaii at peak time compared to the West coast off-peak)…

So maybe… But I’m sceptical.

For me this isn’t not about the differences. It’s about what it means. The majority don’t care for multiple flavors of popularity. They want a place to find niches, that’s too difficult on Roblox. This decision also goes against the company’s longer thread on their vision for discovery: My Longer Response to "Discovery on Roblox: Past, Present, and Future Vision".

Introduce this feature with Filters & Tags, the filter specifically with CCU. That makes room for sorts that aren’t objectively giving similar results to other popular sorts.

It seems Roblox likes to brag about how many Roblox games have many times more live players than a lot of games. This could be nothing but some sort of marketing strategy to showcase that.

I don’t see the benefit of this sort when the same game appears four times in the charts.

At least you could place it next to Most Popular, so it doesn’t take attention from other sorts.

Oh no, You guys trying to inflate the site with similar acting charts in hopes it makes Roblox look bigger? (To be honest not a bad idea from a corporate standpoint. But not good for players that use site daily.)

I know it’s not because you want to help players find games. That’s why charts is named charts and not discovery. A better idea would be to fill charts with “Recommend for you” that way the charts page will be so much bigger. It would have less charts and more games, but hey, robloxians will be happy somewhat.

Maybe you can finally get rid of some things on home and move it to charts.

I feel like this feature is the same and will probably show the same games as the most popular, instead this category could show games that are currently rapidly gaining players.

Example:
Game A - Popular for over a year with a stable player base with ups of ~1.5x when updates are released: Showed in most popular
Game B - A big update has dropped and the game and the game has grown over 3 times since the update and is still growing: Showed in Hot Right Now
Game C - A game that just gained a lot of traction because of a popular YouTuber made a video on it. It is rapidly gaining users: Showed in Hot Right Now.

Yeah, this is actually a good idea. Why are we getting useless categories? If you want Charts to be the primary place to discover new experiences, add CCU as a way to filter experiences. This just serves to bloat the page.

Incredible, a whole bunch of nothing.

Gotta love even more discoverability for the “games” that need it least!

Roblox was like “Most Popular takes too long to scroll to… Let’s add a new chart that does about the same thing above the most popular chart so it’s easier to access!”

The user who owns the announcement thread didn’t necessarily “make” the update. Come on, can the people here stop disappointing me. These changes go through more than one person.

This is one of the best updates Roblox has ever released! Every single Roblox user has been asking for this ever since Roblox became a thing (Totally). Good job everyone at Roblox for listening to your users and adding in exactly what Roblox was missing! :clinking_glasses::partying_face:

Hand picked just for investors- I mean players! Favorited games being at top page instead of bottom was delayed for a uhh great reason!:tada:

In my opinion if the team behind this wants to make a big difference, we really need something like a new version of user ads or a new feature to help encourage returning to recently played games, especially if it is curated by the game developers themselves. There’s only so much that can be done by adding new lines of thumbnails to the wall of games on the home page.

There could also be more done to highlight lesser known games, such as giving a small amount of advertisement credits for keeping active user counts above certain thresholds or adding an ability to customize what genres you have show up on your home page. Having a section called “recently updated” that shows only games from your favorites comes to mind as one possibility to help keep games with small playercounts relevant

why are there always people like you negative under EVERY devforum announcement
